I've had these since 1997 and back then I wasn't really into opening toys, but now that I'm older I get a lot more enjoyment from having my figures opened and sitting on a shelf than sitting in a box in my attic.
They're not really "valuable" or anything if they're left unopened, but part of me still hates opening stuff this old. It doesn't bother me to open something new, but Ive kept them sealed for nearly 30 years, so I'm kind of torn.
