How should I hold my pick?

I am having trouble specifically in terms on index finger positioning. I see most either have their index finger pointing the same direction as the pick, perpendicular to their thumb or have their index finger pointing towards the rounded edge of the pick. I added pictures below to help explain better.

I’m sure it’s wrong but I hold mine with my thumb and my middle finger. I just have way more control and I’ve been doing it like that for years.
