How to treat post acne stubborn hyperpigmentation?

Usually my acne marks fade away within a month, but this one lasts two years and still very obvious. I've been using retinol, I'm not sure if it's effective for this. What about AHA or combination of both? I have a derma pen, should I just use it in in that area?
