I’m 8 weeks post-op (PARS speedbridge). My doctor said to go from the vacoped to the shoe with no wedges, so I did.
I went for a walk with a friend and somehow stepped on his shoe while were walking. It hurt a lot immediately (immediate dorsiflexion, my foot just couldn’t flex that much so it just stopped flexing and I pushed off it at its max flexion when it couldn’t stretch anymore even tho the friends shoe was under it, but full weight) but it’s not reruptured. It’s 2 days later and it’s still swollen and hot to the touch.
I’m seeking advice on what to do. I haven’t yet messaged my doctor. Do I need to just take it easy for a while? Did I hurt it, and how badly?
To be honest, the swelling and pain also happened at the end of the first couple days walking with the shoe (though not as bad), so it’s hard for me to tell how badly I hurt it and what to do.
This weekend is Halloween, and I live in a city. I would love to walk around but it’s also scary because it’s super easy to step on someone’s foot or something and be forced into dorsiflexion.
As context, my doctor said there is very little chance I could rerupture unless I take a bad fall. The type of surgery I got pins down the Achilles with screws in the heel.
