Applying for an apprenticeship but alarm bells are ringing. Is this a scam?

Post Body

So I applied for an accounting apprenticeship position. However before I do the assessment next week they are requiring a lot of personal information. Bank statement, NI number, proof of address. Can’t find them on companies house and they have good reviews everywhere but within a 2 year span. I can’t link any person to the company and LinkedIn is fairly bare. Also the email address for HR seems a little random.

Is this normal? What kind of assessment requires all these details? Manager insists that this is needed to do the assessment. I’m in the U.K.

I’m a little disappointed because I wasted time in the interview and it was a role I was looking forward to.

Any advice is much appreciated.
