Hello, I am an Economics and Accounting Major at a target school. Meet the Firms will be happening at my school in two weeks. I am hoping to land a full-time offer in tax at a Big4 or a Regional firm at their San Francisco Office. My GPA is not all that great, and I have done zero extracurricular activities. I am however, graduating (early) this December. Is there any way for me to work this to my advantage?

For firms which do not list openings for tax on my school’s job sourcing website, is it okay for me to e-mail the recruiter and express my interest in pursuing tax at their firm?
I have previously spoken to a newly hired EY Assurance Associate (starts this Fall at San Jose office) and an EY Senior in Advisory/Assurance from their LA office. Can I follow up with them and ask for possible contacts in SF Tax? I have the Senior’s business card and the Associate’s email address. Do I e-mail the Senior and schedule a call, ask whether he has any luck finding a ship to jump to (mentioned he was looking when we spoke), and then ask if he knows anyone in SF tax I can speak to? Hopefully they will be at Meet the Firms...
Will LinkedIn be of any help in my networking attempts?
It’s too late in the networking game, isn’t it? Thanks for any advice!
