Hello folks,
While looking for a new Accordion I currently have the opportunity to buy a Hohner Imperator V for about 2k. The overall condition is good and has recently been fixed up by a music store. An accordion specialist checked it through to see that it all works and is in fine condition. The bellows are definitely tight, the keys play well. It has a few spots where it's not as beautiful anymore, but seeing as it is (likely) from the 60s I figure that is to be expected for an instrument this old.
Does anyone have experience with these? I love the versatility and the registers sound pretty nice. Still, 2k is no small amount of money, and you can feel that this thing has some age behind it. Are there any chronic disadvantages to these things that you'd rather stay away from? Any bonuses? I'm just looking for someone who knows more about these than I do. Would love to hear from someone with experience whether these things are rather decent or untrustworthy. Judging from the Hohner catalogue this is likely from the 60s, so coming up on roughly 60 years of age now, no small feat. Any help would be very much appreciated!
