Hey folks,
Â
I have recently bought a book on Musette sheets because that’s the kind of style I’d like to pursue more currently. Overall, I feel like the level of difficulty is pretty much where I’m at, so that’s good, but I am heavily struggling with repeated triplets. In particular, we’re talking about this song, a beautiful rendition of which this lady has posted on youtube: https://youtu.be/pFHzJTfYCYs (sous les ponts des paris)

At the 0:35 mark there is a set of 14 triplets, and every two or three triplets the notes played change a little. Just based on the sheet I was totally lost, but thanks to the video I know how it is supposed to sound like. After some concentrated practicing I am able to power through that section with just the occasional mistake, but more often than not I have to briefly pause and adjust. I do not mind the triplets on their own, it’s just that coordinating with the bass notes makes it difficult for me. Also, I have measured my accordion (Hohner Concerto IV) and while both the accordion as a whole as well as the key length are apparently standard sized, I still find the keys really small and difficult to hit when played swiftly. On a regular piano I feel it’s much easier to hit the right keys.

So yeah, does anyone have any advice on what I could do to better ease through these triplets and hit the notes more consistently? That is as of now the part I find most challenging about the song; most other stuff works with a bit of effort. But at that 0:35 mark I still often have to take a minor break to focus.
