Hey there I’m starting to plan out a garage conversion for a living space for my mom moving in. It’s not a full ADU in order to keep cost down so I don’t have to drill into the concrete and there’s a bathroom on the other side of the wall.
However, I want to put in a small kitchenette with electrical appliances. But I would like my mom to be able to have a sink. I have been exploring an RV style sink where it has a water tank. The water would be fed from the source to face using a pump (and drain into free water tank). But in order to have hot water, I would have to get a mini water heater which I suspect I would also have a pump for as most run on pressure. Is there a way to do that set up? Not sure if I would need two separate pumps one for the water heater and one for providing water.
I don’t have expertise to know that if I put in a short subfloor (frame out using 2x4 to level the floor and bring up to the main house door level), if I could figure out how to tap into the main waterline which is nearby (adjacent to the right of the hall behind pocket doors where the water heater for the main house is). My understanding is I would need a certain depth and pitch for the pipes.
Context: I’m putting in a hall put in to buffer the gas furnace sound and protect electrical/solar equipment which connects to the main house on the upper right. The bottom left door already exists as access to outside. So it’s not an option to put the kitchen where the pantry is, although it was considered (unless I move the access door and build wall different/loose pantry space).
