One of the ten commandments, Exodus 20:12, reads
โHonor your father and your mother, so that your days can be long on the land that Yahweh your God is giving you.
What does honoring one's mother and father have to do with one's days being long? Well, the next chapter tells us what happens to one who does not honor their mother and father - their days will be shortened (Exodus 21:17).
โโAnd one who curses his father or his mother will surely be put to death.
Do these verses go together? If P then Q; if not P then not Q?
