Ozzy is exactly 12 weeks old today and he has his second round of vaccinations due next Wednesday, so I'm thinking of starting his harness training soon so that he can start experiencing the great outdoors (with me supervising him) as early as is reasonable. I can see plenty of brands of safe and secure cat harnesses on the market but are there any that are adjustable enough to fit a kitten and then continue to fit as he grows up? I'm not so keen on the idea of spending money repeatedly on various harnesses as he gets older but I want to start his training ASAP.
Additionally I have some thoughts and concerns about the possibility of "cat clothing". On one hand I'm pretty heavily against the idea of putting cats in clothes and costumes, it's just not something I see them enjoying unless it's a sphynx for example. On the other hand I am worried about suddenly getting caught in the rain while playing in the park and I think it could be beneficial to get him used to wearing a little rain coat to keep him dry and comfortable while we make our way back to shelter. I also have some anxiety about the security of cat harnesses because Ozzy is like a little Houdini and a breathable shirt or similar item might make it easier to keep him safe.
What do other Aby parents think? I don't want to upset my boy by making him wear clothes but this is a safety and comfort situation rather than a Halloween costume situation, not that cats can tell the difference. And more importantly is anyone still using the same harness for their adult Aby as they used for their kitten?
