For weeks I have been thinking about the importance of telling the truth and the risks of such as actions and probably the worst scenario would be life imprisonment when facing tyrants and that leads me to two questions
1- What is possibly a source of the meaning of life of a person in life imprisonment in jail? making little connections inside the jail, or spending most of the time learning and reading if possible, or probably hoping to manifest a futuristic vision of life. we usually drive meaning out of actions but what if we disabled to perform any meaningful action.
In Stoicism, there is a technique of practicing misfortune to try to stimulate the worst scenarios in life not be afraid of anything so I have tried to lock myself in my room for a few days and forbade all possible means of pleasure (No internet/smartphones/friends/family/work) except food/sleep and I could not handle the void of meaninglessness especially when there is no anyone to escape from that suffering which usually by seeking momentary pleasure. all I could do in my room thinking about the past and watch time go slowly and suffer from absurdity.
2-Imagine having a meaningful life in a corrupted system maybe you are already married and have kids, why would you risk everything for the sake of going extreme, to tell the truth, is being virtuous outweigh everything else in life? why would you risk living lifetime in suffering when there is another choice less ideal maybe just keep being silent? the famous quote "we must imagine sisyphus happy" how can someone be happy in that case?
