Hey /r/avexchange!!
Today I'm continuing the hunt for a pair of HD800/800S. I was unfortunately born with a rare genetic disability called LCA, which is basically like Macular Degeneration, but the opposite way around, so instad of my central vision going first, it was my peripheral vision. I'm 25, and unfortunately in 2021, my vision took a turn for the worst, and I am now virtually completely blind. This disability works in funny ways in the sense that it isn't a linear progression, but it's very random.
For most of my life my vision was pretty alright, and was well enough to play video games and do aything else I may have wanted to do. After 2021, I can no longer see faces, read text, see video games, etc etc. So this last while has been real rough.
With all that being said, one good thing that came from this, is that I'm now into headphones! I figured that since I can't see movies/tv shows in the conventional way, I could possibly find a pair of headphones that could give me that sense of immersion I'm not getting right now, but through sound. After going through quite a few different pairs of headphones, and many ups and downs in this hobby, I have finally decided to try and simply get the headphone I have been dreaming about since I was a teenager, the HD800/800S. I'm hoping that these can give me that immersive experience I used to have, or something similar. Ultimately I decided on these because Senheiser has never let me down in the past, and I respect TOTL headphones that are built well, and comfortbale.
With all of that being said, I'd be very intersted in hearing what sort of offers you guys might be willing to take. (:
I have some cash in my bank, and would be able to do probably around $750 in raw cash, but I can get a little closer to the used cost by including some other pieces from hobbies I used to be involved with. I have custom mechanical keyboards that I built, I have an old granite HD600 I would be willing to part ways with, so I'm sure there's something we could work out to make a deal happen if you guys are interested. (:
If you find this appealing, please feel free to comment below, and shoot me a DM. I can't read Reddit Chat requests with my screen reader, and they aren't included in my Apollo app, so if you chat me I might not see it, so please do use the private messaging system instead. Thank you, and Merry Christmas! <3
