I just signed up for a new line of service with AT&T, and I wanted to port my existing number but the guy at the store said there was an issue and it couldn't be done. Since he had a line forming and I didn't want to make a hassle, I just took a new number.
When I got home, I had an e-mail saying that there was an issue with the account number (pretty sure I just gave him the wrong account number) and to go to www.att.com/port to correct the account number.
After entering the correct account number, it takes me back to the main www.att.com/port webpage -- then I enter my phone number, it tells me to enter the correct account number again, then it takes me right back.
I know I have the right account number this time, but the website won't seem to take it. I talked to support, and they gave me a number to call (888-898-7658) but the number doesn't seem to work. I just get a recorded message telling me to call customer support.
Should I try my luck with support again? I actually just got another text message from AT&T telling me to correct the account number for my port, but it still doesn't work.
