Ok, so it is A LOT. I don't know where to start, but I switched from T-Mobile to ATT since TMobile would raise our rates by $5 per line (My family has 9 total lines).
I started this journey around 15 May 2024.
Location: Louisville, KY
What I was told:
- I was told activation fees would be waived (Military promotion)
- I was told there would be a $10-$9 discount per line for 36-months (BYOD Promotion)
- Military discount of 25%
What has happened? My first bill came in and is a whopping $973.40

NO military discount applied? Why? I have had constant issues with trying to get their automated system to validate my documents, it validated today but they can't retroactively apply the discount.
Activation fees have been charged to all lines, except one ending 8024.
WHAT HAVE I DONE? In order.
4) I chatted with ATT, told activation fees could not be waived and nothing could be done.
5) I called ATT, the same thing after waiting over an hour on the phone. It was recognized my order was started via the call center, then I went to a physical store to finish the process of porting lines because the person in the call center initially put the wrong port number. They think the person in the store messed up the orders.
6) I went to the store and spoke with the same person. They got their specialized customer service on the phone and they could see that there was a credit for an activation fee for line ending 8024. Yet, no confident explanation of how it got there.
7) Spoke with the loyalty line and they told me the same thing and then educated me on the fact that the 36-month promotional discount was capped at a maximum benefit of $360
Consensus is either the first person lied to get my business or was giving the wrong information. The fact that these people understand and recognize that something is wrong, but I am stuck to bear the cost?
So here I am Reddit. Leaning toward the power of the internet. Any feedback is appreciated.
TL;DR - Getting completely blinded-sided by ATT with little to no help. Told/ sold one thing, but see results that show otherwise. High bill, incorrect promotional applications, etc.
