Monitor Ratio Question

I bought the new Asus PA34VC curved 21 by 9 monitor, and when I plug my ps4 in, it stretches the video output from it to fill the whole screen instead of making letter boxes on the side for true 16 by 9. I really want the 16 by 9, but the aspect control setting wont let me select it even when the ps4 is providing a 16 by 9 output. Does anyone know what settings to change to achieve a 16 by 9 ratio with letter boxes?
