I bought my first Asus gaming laptop in August 2022, and had to return it due to it massively overheating and fan whine. Bought a replacement shortly after, and for a week I thought it was incredible. Then I noticed an issue with the Bluetooth, then an issue with the keyboard. They were minor though, but they started to get worse. Soon the WiFi was dropping randomly and the screen was glitching.
I contacted support, and got absolutely nowhere. I contacted them again and got nowhere. Finally with the machine all but unusable in January 2024 they accepted it for an RMA. It went smoothly but after a few days I had heard nothing. After a week I got the news, they wanted £3400 to repair a machine that had cost £3200. The list of issues while not extensive included the motherboard. So basically it was a write off.
I contacted the original seller who said they'd give me a full refund if I returned it to them and they were super helpful. However I had to pay the repair facility to send it back, the options were by phone (which nobody answered, ever) or by a payment system designed for business to business. Thankfully my bank helped me with that one. Then everything ground to a halt, no communication, nothing. I chased Asus Customer Service and in the course of that call they admitted the machine was defective and i couldn't have caused the damage, that they expected me to pay to repair. The repair centre dragged their feet at every step until finally it was sent back to me.
From there it was returned to seller, who promptly refunded me. I've now bought a PC and ensured nothing in it is Asus made.
The gall of a company to admit they sold a faulty product, but to still expect me to pay to fix their mistake. To use the worst rated repair facility I've ever seen, and when asked about this to essentially state that's who they had a contract with and they didn't care.
How can a company charge what they do, provide no support, ship faulty products and then expect you to pay for their mistakes?
