ZenBook flip screen goes black when connecting to Thinkpad docking station

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad workstation, and when I try connecting my laptop to it my screen goes completely blank and nothing shows up on the other monitor either. Even when I unplug the USB-C cable from the workstation My laptop screen is completely blank still. Sometimes the fan turns on super loud and won't stop. The only way to fix this is to hold the power button down for 10 seconds. Any thoughts on why this is happening?
