Hi, I have a question about ASU's license agreement.
I am in Barrett and I might want to dorm in Vista next year, but I am not 100% sure. There is some ambiguous wording on the license agreement I wanted to ask if anyone here can elaborate on.
Mainly look at the bold parts.
Students new to University Housing will incur a Housing Living and Dining Confirmation fee of $125.00 that is posted to the student’s ASU account shortly after receipt of a signed License Agreement (except for ASU FYS admitted for Fall 2023 or Spring 2024 who are required to pay the enrollment deposit to ASU). By signing this License Agreement, the student agrees to reside in on-campus housing for the academic year and the License Agreement binds the student financially for the entire academic year. This License Agreement is subject to and subordinate to the liens of any mortgages or deeds of trust now or hereafter encumbering or affecting an assigned apartment complex.
It then says:
The undersigned student (“Student”) agrees to payment of the $125.00 non-refundable Housing Living and Dining Confirmation Fee (except for ASU FYS admitted for Fall 2023 or Spring 2024 who are required to pay the enrollment deposit to ASU).
So basically:
- If I sign the housing agreement, will I or will I not have to pay an $125 fee? I dormed this year, so I am not a student that is "new to University Housing" but in the second segment it says as if everyone has to pay that fee.
- If I sign it, will I be forced to dorm for the year? Or will there still be a way to get out of it if I change my mind? And if there is a way, will there be some sort of cancellation fee? It's too early in the year for me to know what I want to do for next semester right now.
TIA for any insight.
