Synopsis: You’re usually not the jealous type, but tonight at a bar, you decide to make sure the person flirting with your boyfriend gets the message. This is on the shorter side (774 words).

Important Notes: Feel free to change or make additions to small aspects of this work such as the tags, pronouns, title, etc.! VA goes by BOYFRIEND and the listener is LISTENER. I really only put M4A or F4A because I want to have the pronouns of the speaker and listener different so it isn’t confusing. All of my scripts are really intended to be A4A.

I usually see a lot of the speaker getting jealous of the listener so I wanted to turn the tables a bit. I’ve never even been to a bar.

INT. A decently crowded bar with background chatter.

The listener is moving past a group of people, squeezing through, and finally spotting their boyfriend talking to someone. He notices them approaching and perks up.

BOYFRIEND

Oh, hey babe! It got really crowded all of a sudden huh? Thanks for bringing my drink by the way.

​

He takes the glass and sips it as the listener asks who the person is.

​

[...]

​

BOYFRIEND

Hmm? Oh, they were just asking for recommendations on the other bars around here.

(towards the other person)

This is my partner.

(pause)

Oh, are you sure? Alright, be safe out there, see you around!

The other person walks away and the listener is left with their boyfriend.

BOYFRIEND

Is something the matter? Did they give you the wrong drink?

​

[...]

​

BOYFRIEND

No, we were just talking for a moment before you got back.

​

[...]

​

BOYFRIEND

Uhm… well nothing important.

​

[...]

​

BOYFRIEND

Okay, okay, if you want the full details they were asking what were good places to visit around the area. I guess they’re really not from around here because they were asking something about hotels. That’s pretty much it.

BOYFRIEND

I mean, I guess it was pretty strange how clueless they seemed about the area. They must be here for a vacation and traveling alone, which seems pretty dangerous in general.

BOYFRIEND

Heh? But then why would they be asking about hotels, silly?

BOYFRIEND

(realizing)

Oh. Really?

[...]

BOYFRIEND

Well, I don’t know, I just thought they were just the touchy type! I didn’t get a chance to bring up you being my partner. Like I said, we were only talking for a short while.

The listener is quiet.

​

BOYFRIEND

H-hey, I was just being friendly. Are you mad at me? It’s just- I’ve never seen you so worked up about something like this.

BOYFRIEND

If you say so…

BOYFRIEND

Really, it’s okay. I’d be pretty upset if something like that happened to you right in front of me. I mostly keep those feelings to myself though. Of course, I trust you and all, but it’s normal to feel a bit greedy about someone you love, you know?

(pause)

We can just call it a night and go home. What do you say?

BOYFRIEND

Really? How could you spot them with all of these people around? Are you sure they’re looking this way? Absolutely sure? Not that I don’t believe you or anything.

He turns to get a better look but the listener pulls him back.

​

BOYFRIEND

(chuckling)

Agh! You don’t gotta yank me like that. Was I being too obvious?

​

BOYFRIEND

Yeah, yeah I see them. To be honest… I think they’re eyeballing you now. Interesting. Okay, now I see it.

[...]

​

BOYFRIEND

Pfft, jealous? I mean, who wouldn’t stare at you? You’re stunning, even when you think you aren’t. What can I say, I adore every bit of you. You can have all the spotlight you want. Let’s just leave before they ask for your number, yeah? I’m not exactly prepared for what I’d say, I already said you are my partner after all. I don’t wanna be all flamboyant.

BOYFRIEND

Really? I knew you liked my cheesiness, even if you don’t say it out loud. I guess my charm shows no bounds.

(chuckling)

Just messing. But what would I even say? Something like

(pretending to be serious)

Don’t touch them, they’re mine! And then I dramatically lift and carry you away.

(laughing)

Hmm, that doesn’t sound right. Huh, why are you grabbing my shirt-

The listener pulls him in and initiates a long series of kisses (this lasts for a good while) before pulling away.

BOYFRIEND

(slightly out of breath)

Or we could do that. Oh-

​

They continue kissing him for a while longer but he forces himself to pull away.

​

BOYFRIEND

We need to calm down a bit. You’re making it very difficult to hold back, you know, clinging onto me like this, your hand on my chest. It was subconscious for me to hold your waist.

BOYFRIEND

N-no, I love this and I really want to hold you closer, but just not out here.

(flirty)

You’re really into this, aren’t you? Aw babe, you’re so cute. But I think we gave a clear message.

(whispering)

Please stop, for my sake. I’m gonna go crazy.

(pause)

Look, they’re gone.

(chuckling)
