A/N: I wasn’t ready for the next script yet. I certainly tried but I wasn’t mentally prepared. Into procrastination station it goes~ I’m also not too satisfied with this one…

[storm sounds]

[rustling noises]

(quiet, far away) “I’ve never seen something like this before… it’s a human… but… they have bird wings. And talons, too. Is this a harpy? I’ve only ever seen them in books…”

“Goodness, the storm made a mess of her wings… I hope she doesn’t mind me patching them up. Good thing I’ve dealt with injured birds before.”

“Would it be rude to call them a bird…?”

(voice becomes clearer) “Oh?”

“Oh! You’re awake! Finally, I was starting to get worried!”

“Whoa, whoa, don’t be afraid! I don’t want to hurt you! I just… I heard this sound outside in the storm, and when I went out there you were collapsed on the ground… I- I’m a naturalist, so I know a bit about birds and such, and I could tell that your wings was broken.”

“I couldn’t leave you out in the storm, so I brought you in and patched you up… I hope you don’t mind.”

[pause]

“I’m not deceiving you, I promise! Look I- I don’t know what happened to you, but I… I promise I won’t harm you.”

[pause]

“Huh? Hunters? What hunters?”

[pause]

“Well… now that I think hard about it, I saw what I thought were some bears passing through a few nights ago… but I was exhausted and wasn’t really paying attention… so they could have easily been some illegal poachers.”

“You’re telling me that you were attacked?”

[pause]

“Y-Your entire flock? Wiped out?”

“Oh god… I’m so sorry.”

[pause]

“No wonder you were so wary of me…”

“But… I promise, I have no ill intentions towards you. I just… well, I’m curious about you.”

[pause]

“What? No! I-I’m not like– o-one of those mad scientists! I’ve just never seen a harpy before!”

“I mean– I’ve seen my fair share of magical creatures; I have an old classmate who fell in love with a naga for goodness’s sake, but–!”

“... I mean… I just wanted to learn a little more about you…”

[pause]

“Was– was that your stomach just now?”

[pause]

“Y-You haven’t eaten in days?! That’s not good!”

“Hold on just a moment. I should have some energy bars in this cabinet here… a-actually, is there anything that harpies can’t eat?”

[pause]

“You’re not sure? Ah– that’s okay. Just tell me if you feel like something is wrong when you eat this.”

[wrapper sounds]

“Here you are.”

“It’s not much, but it should keep you sated while I cook some actual food.”

[pause]

“Really? You’ve never had something like this before?”

[pause]

“Ah, so you’re hunters by nature. I should have guessed, honestly.”

“I-I’m sorry. I’ve just never met a harpy. I suppose that’s common knowledge…”

[pause]

“Hm? Where are we?”

“Ah. We’re in a temporary research camp. A hover trailer, to be exact.”

[pause]

“No, it doesn’t fly like your kind does. It just hovers slightly above the ground, is all. It means we don’t have to worry about disturbing the ground too much. Magic is fascinating, isn’t it?”

[pause]

“So you haven’t been around many humans? That’s alright. I’m sure you don’t want many visitors, living deep in this forest and all that.”

[pause]

“Oh, your wings? I’m no healer, but your wings should be alright in a few weeks. I’ve heard Harpy healing factors are better than a human’s, at least.”

“I-If you like, I can call one of my buddies over. They’re a well-known healer in the magical creatures community!”

[pause]

“... No? You… you just need me?”

[pause]

“Th-Thank you…?”

“U-Uh… say, do you mind if I send a report to my superiors about those illegal hunters?”

“We haven’t been able to find proof that they even exist, but you… someone who saw them firsthand, and was even hunted by them, your testimony could let us finally catch them!”

[pause]

“Oh… no I– I don’t know whether or not your family is okay. I’m sorry, I really am.”

[pause]

“... Really?! You’ll give a testimony?!”

“Th-that’s great! I-I’ll call my boss now and once the storm blows over, we can head back and–”

[pause]

“Uncomfortable? … Oh right. I-I’m sorry… I forgot that you’re probably not accustomed to human settlements…”

“That’s alright. You can give your testimony over the phone.”

[long pause]

(gently) “You tired?”

[pause]

“Go ahead and sleep for a while. This storm isn’t going away anytime soon so… best get some rest.”

“It must have been a long day for you.”

[rustling noises]

“... Sweet dreams.”
