Listener is the junior member of the US Senate from Generic Northeastern State The speaker is a hot blooded reporter who wants an interview and maybe something more?
I kind of have this weird obsession with the Dieselpunk era. I wrote this with a fast talking transatlantic accent in mind, but whatever works with you. Speaker is named after character from a Lemony Snickett book. Also all the historical references are more or less real but run the gamut from the 20s to the 50s. ( I wasn't really trying to be historically accurate lol). As always I love feedback!

Speaker is running through an office. The listeners Chief of staff tries to stop them
Outta the way crumb! Press comin through! I got an interview with the senator.
Chief of staff explains that the listener is on the phone
I don't care if the senator is on the phone with Jesus, Mary, Joseph, and the Brooklyn Dodgers! I’m not leaving till I see them in front of me answering my questions!
They try to tell the reporter to leave
Listen here mr chief of staff, you ain't chief of squat as far as I’m concerned! I stared down Klansmen in Carolina! Commies in Crete! And Cowboys in Coahuila! I ain't scared of some buttoned up bottomed out mugwump in a pinstripe suit!
Skedaddle! Scram! Book it! Go downtown! Uptown! Outta Town! Outta my way!
Who am I? By god I’m a journalist! A snoop! A newshound! A muckraker!
A dealer in truth! Justice! Integrity!
Names Madison “Moxie” Mallahan from the Metropolitan Sentinel-Standard-Post-Tribune-Gazette! The best damn paper in town!
We always find the truth and print what happened as it happened with no biases! Slandering! Pandering! Or Fluff!
Whispering we save that for the editorials whispering ends
So step aside ya juke joint statesman! You're nothing but a scheister! A Fink! Two saxophones short of a jazz band! I’m not skipping this interview for anything short of judgment day so unless you got six more heads and ten horns hiding in that sweaty popped collar of yours get outta my way!
Bangs down door
Your phone call is over senator! I got questions and you got answers! It's the 20th century! Times are changing before I can even finish writing it down! The worlds spinning faster every day and it ain’t gonna slow down for either of us! So speak up! Hang up the horn! I gotta get this into the editor before the clock strikes twelve or I’m going back to the granite state! And I’m talking about a pine box on the slow train if you catch my drift!
Unpacks the typewriter
First question!
In A.L.A. Schechter Poultry Corp. v. United States the supreme court struck down the National Recovery act of 1933, a major component of the New Deal legislation! How does this impact Congress's relationship with the Roosevelt administration? Do you agree with the majority of your caucus? Why did you break with them on the Smoot-Hawley Tariff?
Typing
Excellent quote!
Alright on the foreign policy front boy do we have troubles! And as a member of the Senate committee on foreign relations you got your ear to the ground on all of it!
Admiral Horthy of Hungary is threatening war with the Little Entente over the terms of the treaty of Trianon while Japan has invaded Manchuria! The league of nations is fraying apart at the seams and there's rumors that the brits are working on an atom bomb!
Every wannabe Caesar, Charlemagne or Nebuchadnezzar is out there looking for a fight and we’re one blown wig from getting caught right up in the middle of the biggest dust up since the original great war! This is a troubled era of a troubled world.
How closely is congress monitoring these events?

People will be glad to hear it
How about crime? Two weeks ago a dozen trigger men got sent to tomb town by a bunch of mystery men with Chicago typewriters (NOTE: THAT'S SLANG FOR TOMMY GUNS) right in broad daylight on Valentines day. We got goons with gats! Beatniks with Buzzers! And all kinds of Dicks, Gumshoes and Flatfoots mixed up in all of this.
The streets of our fair cities have been taken over by Capone, Lansky, Luciano, The purple gang and the National Crime Syndicate!
Out in the plains we got Marauders like Dillinger! Barker! And Machine Gun Kelly!
Let me tell you ever since the crash the only stock beating the market has been Murder Incorporated!
And the preacher Billy Sunday has accused you of being in doubt that prohibition is a sustainable policy! Care to comment, Senator?! What's the cause of this madness? Poverty? Corruption? The rising popularity of professional football and big band music among the youth?
How much longer is crime gonna pay in our nation?
Typing
Fiery words from our seemingly soft spoken civic servant!
Alright so the year's biggest story! Down in Oklahoma soil erosion has led to a dust devil of biblical proportions! And speaking of the bible the devastation has led to the biggest mass exodus since Moses! Is congress preparing to help? Or are these Okies being left to reap the whirlwind?
Typing
Moving words from a pillar of the community.
Alright! I don't wanna keep ya but we gotta hit the big questions!
You’ve been proclaimed the third best looking Member of the Senate after Hattie Caraway and Henry Cabot Lodge, and you're the youngest one in the 20th century! Not to mention all the other firsts you represent for the country! Do you feel any pressure?
Typing
Cool and collected words from our states most handsome member of congress.
Alright big question!
Do you think I’m cute?
You heard me! Cute! Handsome! Fair! A Looker! A Tomato! A Dish!
Care to comment?
Listener says speaker is cute but is surprised to be asked
Straight Aces I am! I’m the cutest beat reporter this side of the bay! And this looker has their eyes on a dish of a senator!
This Friday Humphrey Bogarts got a new picture hitting town.
Why are you coming to the premier? Who are you bringing and why is it me? What are you wearing? When are you picking me up? What do you think of the color red on me? The people need to know!
Listener agrees to a date (partially because they barely have time to react)
It’s a date, senator! I’ll meet you Friday! Now we gotta get this interview to the presses! I better make tracks! I'll be seein ya!
They run out of the office to make the train
