She's a little ditzy, maybe a little tsundere as well, but she's always had your back. Except today, when a griffin rampages the castle and you are in harm's way! A brave knight is sure to rescue you, of that, you are certain. But where has Bean gone during all of this?

[Your handmaiden, per usual, trips over herself]

“A-Ah! Sorry, Princess! I-I-I’ll get it right one of these days!”

[She carefully sets down your linens for the day]

“I-I’ms a bad Nekos. Should be graceful, SHA, like a CAT!”

[She does a few punchies and a kick]

“LIKE. A. CAT!”

[You laugh and stand to get dressed]

“The agenda for todays? Well, it looks like the Knight Captain is training the other knights on dealing with a griffin. They’re not gonna hurt it or anything, he’s just gonna be a sleepy boy in a cage so they can see what he looks like. Maybe you could sneak a peek? I know you like the big boy creatures.”

[Pause!]

“Eee, Princess, I told you to warn me befores you dropped your gown to get dressed!”

[Pause]

“W-Why do I mind? I-I-I dunnos, nudity is just weirds! And you always say “Wehh wehh, Bean, wehh wehh wehh, you’ve seen my bits”!”

[Pause]

“Princess, j-just cause I’m a Neko doesn’t mean I wants to run around nakeds or see pretty ladies naked!”

[Pause]

[Bean lets out a long string of vowels with a few sad cat noises]

“F-Fines, I’m going to get your breakfast. Meanie.”

[Pause~]

“Oh, love you t-... HEY! Meanie! I-I hope they peppered your eggs a little too much today!”

[You laugh as your favorite handmaiden rushes off]

[Scene transitions to the hallways of the castle a short time later]

[You’re meandering the halls when a massive commotion hits your ears]

[SFX: Griffin shrieks and stuff being thrown about]

[As you freeze, you see the beast crash around the corner and barrel your way, clearly not happy at the knights trying desperately to drag it back. The Knight Captain spots you and shouts:]

[KC] “PRINCESS, RUN! HIDE YOURSELF AWAY WHILE THE BEAST IS LOOSE! I’ll rally the Knights and we’ll secure the griffin!”

[SFX: The Princess sprinting away and locking herself in a spare room. Muffled battle sounds]

[Pause]

[The door bursts open and a knight with his helm on rushes in]

“I have you, Princess!”

[He scoops you up and hurries you out of the castle, a bit klutzy but doing his best]

“D-Don’t worry! I’ll protect you with my l-l-life!”

[Pause?!]

“W-What’s going on? A griffin g-got loose in the pens a-and has been rampaging s-since! I-I’m going to get you to the King s-so you can be safe!”

[SFX: Metal shoes hurrying across a stone floor]

[Pause?]

“H-Huh? N-No, I’m… W-Wait, I mean YES, I a-am a new knight. T-That’s why y-you probably haven’t s-seen me around bef-wHOA!”

[He stumbles forward and nearly drops you]

[SFX: Griffin noises (the Hell does that sound like, a pissed off hawk-cat?)]

“T-The griffin is coming! R-Run, Princess, I’ll fend him off!”

[You stand and hurry off with one last look to the brave Knight that rescued you]

[SFX: The Princess hurrying off outside]

[You’re met quickly by the Knight Captain]

[KC] “There you are, Princess! We’ve been looking for nearly a solid hour and thought you might have been chased out of the forest!”

[Pause!]

[His expression switches from concern to confusion]

[KC] “A clumsy knight rescued you and stayed behind to find the griffin…? But, your majesty, all of the knights are searching the forest, I counted them myself…”

[Pause…]

[SFX: The griffin bursting free and raging]

[All of you turn as the enraged beast barrels out into the gardens, bucking and shrieking. The clumsy knight is clinging to its neck for dear life]

“H-HELP HE’S SO ANGRY!”

[KC] “To arms!”

[The other knights rush forward to subdue the beast but not before it bucks the poor knight off and he lands with a hefty “OOF!” in front of you and his helmet rolls off]

“Owww… W-Why are birds always s-s-so mean! Oh, P-Princess, you’re OK!”

[It’s dead quiet as you stare down at the sheepish smile of Bean]

[KC] “The… The handmaiden?! You stole armor and attempted to fight the griffin solo?”

[Bean shrinks a bit in shame]

“W-Well, the armor w-was on a dead knight a-a-and the Princess needed help!”

[KC] “You… That was brave of you, cat, but you’ve committed a crime by stealing armor and laying your hands on the Princess… You realize those are executable offenses, right?”

[Pause!]

“...W-Well, if I gots to die for saving the Princess, then I wills! Cause… C-C-Cause that’s what you do for people you loves!”

[You step between them before the situation escalates]

[KC] “Princess? Apologies, I will step back. It is, ultimately, your decision on what to do with your handmaiden.”

[Pause!]

[The Knight Captain looks at you, surprised]

[KC] “You… wish for Bean to stay your personal Knight? Are… Are you certain, Princess?”

[Pause]

“W-Wait… reallys? H-How come, Princess?”

[You help her up and kiss her cheek]

“Yeahs, I’m getting up-... oh. P-Princess kisses…”

[Pause]

“O-Only knights get Princess kisses? Oh.”

[Bean stares ahead, seemingly in shock]

“...U-Um… Huh? C-Course I love you, toos! Y-You’re my Princess! I love you with all my hearts! Also, I’m gonna pass out nows.”

[Bean conks out cold and you look to the Knight Captain. He perks an eyebrow at you]

[KC] “...You know, you can probably convince the King to let you have your little affair with her, if you want…”

[Pause]

[KC] “You want more than an affair? Well…”

[He sighs, rubbing his temples]

[KC] “...I’ll train her to be a knight in secret. You owe me all of the rolls at the next dinner though, got it? Don’t tell me that I never get you any gifts again, got it?”

[Pause]

[KC] “Yeah, yeah. We’ll carry Bean back to your quarters. Just… try not to jump them too hard, alright? She’s going to be incredibly sore from the beast she’s just ridden, so riding you is-”.

[You smack his arm and he laughs]

[KC] “Like I said, never say your big brother doesn’t do anything nice for you! Go on. Go be a little muppet and fall in love.”

[You stick your tongue out at him and he sticks his out in response before you go off to reward your most loyal knight]
