[Scene opens in your bedroom late at night]

[SFX: A window sliding open, then shutting, followed by bed creaks]

[You’re lying awake late at night, unfortunately, when the familiar sound of the window sliding open makes you shudder. He’s next to you, like every night, breath shuddering against your neck]

“There’s my baby… Kisses for my sweetie, mmh, I missed you… Are you awake? I know you are…”

[Pause]

[He smiles and nuzzles closer]

“Hi honey, hmhm. How was your day? Tell me all about it.”

[Long Pause]

[Recommended: the Speaker acknowledging the Listener’s story from time to time]

“Aww… Derek gives you so much shit at work. Are you sure you don’t want me to take care of him, sweetie? You know I don’t mind… And they have to know you’re mine by now, right? They better. I’m tired of reminding them…over and over and… over…”

[Pause]

“Oh, you saved me some dinner? That’s nice of you, honey. I don’t get to eat very often while I’m out on the lam, hmhm. You kill five people and BAM! Lifetime in prison, haha. Ooh, lasagna and it’s still warm! You are truly an angel, you know that? How about some TV?”

[SFX: The TV turning on and some silly reality show coming on]

[He eats happily, eyes turning colder any time you move before returning to contentment when you settle again]

“Thank you for dinner, my love. So sweet, so kind to me… Come here, I want to snuggle up with you. It’s so cold this time of year… I wish I could stay with you all the time, baby, I really do. But they’d shoot me on sight at this point…”

[...Pause…?]

[He laughs quietly and pulls you as close as he can]

“Yes, the police… Of course, I mean the police, sweetie. Of course…”

[Pause]

“Aww. You’re worried about me? That’s cute…”

[His fingers trace up your neck on every side, obsessively searching any mark he finds]

“Nothing on this beautiful neck. Good! You’ve been so good since I brought you home. Are you feeling better now that you have some more amenities, my angel? I know my home was a bit… gothic. Antiquated, even, but I did my best to make sure you were comfortable. After all, I think we were both tired of having that old argument… I simply can’t let you leave. I’d panic, love. I’d kill to get to you…. We don’t want that again, do we?”

[He smiles and kisses your neck, pausing as his lips hover over your skin]

“Mmh, you taste so lovely, darling… Your neck always tastes so good. It is one of the many reasons I love you…”

[...]

“Of course, I love you. The moment I saw you picking lemons from your adorable little lemon tree in your adorable little garden, my heart went wild! I couldn’t calm down thinking about you, no part of me could. I love your little shy laughs as much as I love when you think you’re alone in the house and really laugh. I love how sad you got when you broke one of my plates. I love how you dance, how you dance with the cats in your arms, how you dance with me when the mood strikes you. I just can’t help but obsess any time I must go out to take care of business.”

[Pause]

“...Darling, I have to kill. We’ve had this discussion. If I don’t kill, I die. If I die, you’ll be stuck in this house until you eventually starve to death, and I will NOT ALLOW ANY HARM TO-!”

[Pause]

[His tone softens immediately as you flinch]

“Shh, shh, no no, it’s alright. Darling, please calm down, I didn’t mean to snap. There we go… Look into my eyes. Breathe.”

[He turns you over and you look into his eyes. Like always, the anxiety ebbs away, replaced by calm]

“There’s my angel… Holding you is so nice. So soothing. Knowing you’ll always be here, waiting to see me. To cuddle. To kiss. To make love… You are so good to me. I love you, darling, no matter how much you protest that I can’t from one glance at you. One chance encounter… It was enough to know that I wanted to spend my eternity with you.”

[Pause?]

[His smile fades slowly]

“What do I mean when I say spend eternity with you? Darling… Haven’t you realized what I am, by now? We’ve been together for years…”

[His eyes peer down into yours, blood-red and glowing in the dark]

“You raise a good point… I can’t spend eternity with you if you’re not like me… No. No, I don’t like that. I don’t like that at all! H-How would I live?! I would… No. This is OK. I can fix it, right here, right now. Don’t worry, darling, alright? It won’t hurt too badly…”

[His pupils compress and grow slitted as he stares down at you. Your body falls limp under a wave of pleasant tingles]

“It’s too late, sweetie. You’re already in my hypnotic control. I have you, but I must have more. You must be mine, forever! Then I can sleep, my love. Then, we can be together eternally.”

[He opens his mouth, and a pair of fangs glint at you]

[Pause!]

“Darling, calm yourself… It won’t hurt too badly, I swear it. Most even find it sensual to have a vampire slowly, gently drain them. Of course, the actual transformation process can be quite painful, but I will be here for you! Throughout this pain, all throughout the rest of our lives together!”

[You try and plead as he lowers himself over your body but cannot move, can hardly whimper]

“Shh… Let me intertwine our fingers so our wedding rings are pressed together. So all of us are pressed together. Please, it will feel like paradise… Well, after the terror of dying temporarily fades, it will be bliss. Take a deep breath, angel. Nice and deep…”

[...]

“Please don’t? Love… Shh, let me brush the hair from your face. Look at me.”

[You have no choice and he smiles with that chilling worship and devotion]

“Deep breath…”

[You try to plead again but he strikes, fangs sinking into your neck. The pain makes you gasp and he moans against you, lips and tongue drawing more and more blood in]

“Gods above and below! Mmh, goodness, your blood… It makes me feel so good, so much better than the little bites I sneak when you sleep. Mmh, I need more, sweetie… Just a little more and you’ll slip into a nice sleep. It’ll feel cold, but I’ll be waiting here when you wake, OK? You’re doing so good…Now, just a little more…”

[Pause]

[You can hear your own heartbeat struggling and then slowing as he slowly kills you in an oddly sensual manner]

“Anh… There. There we go. Shhh, there we go. There we go… Let me hold you as you die. When you wake, you’ll be mine for eternity. Mine…forever.”

[He holds you as you fade away, humming quietly and occasionally kissing at the wound]

“I’ll see you soon, my love. Very…very…soon.”
