Context: Almost a year ago, you got a new neighbor in the form of a werewolf and his young daughter, Winnie. You weren't used to living next to a monster, but the two of you hit it off and you became a regular fixture in his life, both as his neighbor and a regular babysitter to the little girl. It's a nice relationship, certainly the nicest neighbor you've had, but, if you didn't know better, you'd almost swear he wanted more.

[Scene opens in your backyard]

[SFX: General summer afternoon ambiance]

[You’re in your backyard, doing a bit of gardening, when a familiar voice calls out:]

“Hey, neighbor!”

[You stand and your neighbor waves at you from over the fence]

[Pause]

“Yes, tis I, your favorite single, werewolf father… Am I using “tis” right? I’m still trying to get this fancy talk you like down, hehe.”

[Pause]

“H-Huh? No, I didn’t do anything different with my tail. A-And I certainly didn’t try to shave! L-Look, I appreciate the usual teasing, but I need a favor. I’ve gotta get a piece of drywall in Winnie’s room fixed.”

[Pause]

[He laughs]

“Of course, you can use the pool if you watch her. You know you can come over any time and use the pool, right?”

[Pause]

“I know you like spending time with her… She absolutely adores you! Isn’t that right, Winnie? Hang on, lemme lift my tail and… THERE’S Daddy’s bitey little goblin! How are you gonna say hi to your favorite person if you keep biting Daddy’s tail?”

[He lifts his tail and the little girl squeals and jumps into your arms]

“Winnie! You gotta be careful jumping at them like that! Geeze, sorry. She just really loves you, hehe.”

[Pause]

[He blushes and his tail stops wagging before subtly starting to wag again]

“L-Listen, I can’t control the tail wagging, OK? Hmph. You know, if this were the Dark Ages, you’d have to show me some respect, otherwise I’d be chasing you down and homf homf homf! What? Oh, Winnie, don’t growl at me, I’m not gonna eat your favorite human!”

[You hand Winnie back to him]

[Pause]

“Yeah, yeah, no worries! You go get your bathing suit on and I’ll meet you in my backyard.”

[You meet him in a few minutes as promised. He turns, smiles, then immediately seems taken aback]

“I-I-I uh… I-Is… that a new swimsuit?”

[Pause]

“I-I-It… looks really nice…”

[You thank him and head into the water with Winnie]

[SFX: Water splashing]

[You feel his eyes on you every now and again but any time you look, he quickly glances away]

[Pause?]

“C-Come in with you and Winnie? I, uh… I… I waaaas gonna put on some burgers! Do burgers sound good? Yes! Burgers!”

[He turns tail and you continue to play with Winnie while she doggy paddles about]

[SFX: Burger patties sizzling on the grill]

“Phew, there we go. Hey, I’m like most Dads - grilling soothes me, hehe… You’re really good with Winnie.”

[Pause]

“Oh, I know you babysit her all the time, hehe. I really appreciate that, by the way. Between moving here, trying to get the house fixed up, and trying to adjust to being an office slave, I’ve been losing a decent amount of fur. Guess I got super lucky to get a neighbor as kind as you, y-you, ah…”

[He pauses as you sit on the side of the pool and let Winnie do little jumpies from your lap]

“Ah… I… didn’t realize you’d gotten a new bathing suit…”

[Pause?]

“I commented on it earlier? Aha, WOW, I am so forgetful today!”

[Winnie giggles from your lap before doing a little hop]

[SFX: Splash!]

“Winnie, you be careful jumping off the side of the pool! Even if it’s from their lap, I don’t want you chipping a fang again!”

[In true little girl fashion, Winnie ignores her Dad and goes for more jumpies]

[Pause?]

“Uh…? Invite some of her friends over? I… guess. But you know how the other neighbors are. Devon’s son is super shy, Peter and Moonbeam’s daughter can do the glare, and they’re the good ones! We’ll just end up babysitting five kids!”

[Pause]

[He gives a tired smile]

“True… Winnie’s been missing her little friends. Alright! Put in some calls, my friend, and let’s sell our afternoon quiet away for some screaming kids!”

**[Very brief time transition of about an hour]**

[SFX: Laughing/playing kids and lots of splashing]

[You stand next to him while he doles out burgers and fries with a big smile on his face]

“Warms my heart to see her so happy. And a bunch of little gremlins eating burgers, hehe.”

[Pause…?]

“...Ohhh. Yeah. Trevor is meant to be eating vegetarian stuff only.”

[You both look over to where the boy hungrily scarfs down his third burger]

“... Enh, he’s three burgers in. Bit late now, right? Besides… I won’t tell if you won’t.”

[He winks and you smile]

[Pause]

“You really are good with kids. I was really surprised! You said you were pretty OK with being single and had no plans to bring any kids into your life!”

[Pause]

[His face turns scarlet]

“S-Something changed your mind? Aha… A-Ahem. Well, whatever it was, I-I’m very thankful to it!”

[Pause]

“Thankful to…him?”

[His smile turns into a pout and then a scowl]

“Oh… you… met a man. U-Um… congratulations. I hope he’s… really nice.”

[Pause]

“Oh, he is, huh? Hmph…”

[Pause]

[He growls quietly under his breath]

“Right, right… he’s beefy and a good Dad and kind of silly and really into grilling for stress relief. Yeah. Sounds like a great guy.”

[Pause]

“Me? Upset? No, I’m not upset. Why would I be upset?”

[You give it a second or two to see if he catches on before shaking your head, reaching up and gently getting him by the ear]

“Ah! H-Hey, don’t get me by the ear! I WILL get upset if you-!”

[His eyes go wide as you kiss him]

“I-! Mmh?! Mm…???”

[You pull away and he blinks at you, confused]

“Wait… I’M the guy?!”

[Pause]

[A big smile spreads across his face and he laughs]

“I’m the guy! Me! Winnie, I’m the guy!”

[The little girl gives him a thumbs up and he gives one back]

“O-Oh man… wow. You have no idea how much of a relief that is! I think Winnie’s sick of hearing me gush about you.”

[Pause]

“...oh my God, that little goblin told you everything.”

[You share a laugh with him]

“And you got that swimsuit for me… Well, it’s very effective, hmhm. C’mere, I’ve been wanting to put my arm around you since the day we moved in.”

[You let him put an arm around you and exchange a few more kisses. The children all yell “Ewwww!!!” in tandem. You don’t really mind]
