Context: Your hand was promised to the Vampire King Lothaire after your father failed to deliver on a promise, and, after a rough journey, you found yourself in love with your King, even willingly marrying him. You have given birth to twins, and your husband marches to war with the nation that cost you your leg. A war began between your nation and Edelweiss, with the Mad Queen Iniu setting her sights on you. She's devastated your allies, threatened your family, and the desperation made you accept a deal with a demon from another world. Iniu was forced to run after a humiliating defeat, but she didn't come alone. It's time to end this.

[Scene opens within your workshop once more]

[SFX: Gem rustling about, tinkering with mechanical bits]

[You rush angrily about your workshop, working to reassemble one of your oldest friends while your husband holds Lapis and Lazuli]

“Gem…?”

[Pause]

“Gem!”

[Pause!]

[Lothaire gently limps before you and you pause]

“Gem… Sweetling, please. Please, you must calm yourself, especially after such an intense experience.”

[Pause!!!]

[Your husband seems taken aback]

“Love… I understand you’re upset. I want Iniu’s face smeared across every available wall as well, but.. You’re sobbing, my love. Please. Please, I understand that agony. I’ve had so many battles where I’ve gone into a bloodlust. Woken up and felt the weight of… of my actions… but I want to assure you, I want to hold you and tell you that you did what was best for us, our people, our children.”

[You sidestep him with dogged determination and go back to reassembling Angel]

“Sweetling, would you please just listen to me for five godamned seconds!”

[A] “Lothaire, enough...Gem. Please.”

[SFX: Powerful magic being conducted with swirling piano motifs]

[Their various body parts come back together in mere seconds]

[A] “Ah… The magic is powerful. I just fear how much you have sacrificed to gain it, my old friend… I had hoped we’d reach this part of the plan, but I never dreamed it would come with such a steep toll. I am only sorry ”

[Lothaire pauses, still holding his side]

“What are you talking about, Angel?”

[Angel stands and goes to Lothaire]

[A] “We have been playing a long, long game, King of Wraiths. And before you anger, twas I that asked Gem to keep it a secret… For many, many years now. It had to be kept a secret… Iniu can hear through the Wraith technology. She knew of everything you were up to… as far as you knew, anyway.”

[Lothaire looks at them and then at you, unreadable]

“...Please explain. You know I hate vagueness, Angel.”

[...]

[Angel sighs and turns fully to him]

[A] “Many years ago, Prince Rupin came here, as I’m sure you remember. This was deliberate. This was by Iniu’s request, but my group intercepted Rupin and his mage before they could reach Edelweiss and convinced him, non-violently I assure you, to work for our side instead of for his mother. He agreed and the plan proceeded… The issue was that the mage, Cicutta, was… more than we thought… The Veil Warrior told us that he was something called a Devil, one of seven, and he has been in the ear of Queen Iniu since she was a child.”

[...]

“...I’m not angry, Gem. I just… want to understand.”

[...]

[A] “It is alright, old friend. The Veil Warrior is related to the Maiden of Embers. Her entire bloodline can keenly sense these monsters. She came to Neferen with two men, and we were able to ask for help. She agreed, and we have been working with her and her mates in tandem for years now to build a resistance… We learned that her eldest son was cursed and turned into a sea beast. Initially, we were hesitant to approach him, as only his true name could reverse the curse… but he had a friend with him. A friend that remembered. Veil set off to guide him here once the EMP went off.”

[Pause]

“So… Prince Rupin… You spared him on purpose?”

[A] “He wanted no violence and was terrified of his mother’s wrath. We sent him to Rasan, for now, well outside of her influence. We have, at best, a day before the Drowned Prince arrives on the shores of Everfall. If we are to act, we must act now and stop Iniu where she dares to stand.”

[They take a breath that they don’t really need]

[A] “We have one shot, now. One chance to take out the tyrant Queen and free Everfall, free the Clockwork Angels, and stop her from ever harming anyone again. I need to get to the castle now, my friends. I need to make sure Iniu is where she needs to be when her son decides to show up… Can you open a portal for me, please?”

[You do so]

[SFX: Magical shenanigans]

“Wait! Where do you want us, Angel? We’re with you, one-hundred percent.”

[A] “Just show up. Bring an appetizer, if you fancy.”

[The three of you share an uncertain laugh as dread looms overhead]

[A] “We will make it through this. Gem… you are a true patriot, just as you said so long ago. You are the Queen Everfall deserved. It is fortunate that you found yourself here, found your husband… we would be lost without you.”

[Angel holds you, and you hold them, exchanging a brief kiss as they step through the portal]

[A] “Stay safe. After all of this is over, drinks are on me.”

“We’ll hold you to that, Angel. Hrrgh, right. You’ve set up the house of cards, my love.”

[He picks up his sword and smiles down at you]

“...You really are a true patriot, my Queen. A radiant goddess that loves her family and people, even though we are different species. I am with you, my love, forever and always. If now is the time we stand, then I am proud to be by your side. With that in mind… what do you say to a leisurely walk in a Mech? Perhaps… to scenic Everfall after we drop off Lapis and Lazuli, hm?”

[You grin. He grins. It’s time to end this]
