Context: You are an alien doctor aboard a Class 5 vessel that came across a destroyed ship with only one survivor. A human man named Aurim is your lone charge, and he seemed just as fascinated by you as you were by him... for better or worse. That fascination turned to obsession, and your new friend turned into a monster, murdering everyone else aboard your spaceship except for you. Now, all you can do is your best to survive.

[Scene opens aboard a spaceship]

[SFX: Metallic thumping]

[You curl inward even more as you hear his footsteps approach, the locker that has protected you seeming smaller and smaller by the moment]

“Hmhmhm… you’re good at hide-and-seek, Beauty! I haven’t seen you in, what, four days now…? C’mon, baby, just because I killed everyone else on board doesn’t mean you need to be afraid… Just come out, OK? Let’s talk about this, have a little dialogue…”

[Pause]

[His voice snaps on a dime and you hear him snarl as something heavy whips across the room and crashes into the wall only a few feet away]

“BABY! Baby… Sorry, lost my cool for a second… Don’t you think this is dumb at this point? I’m going to find you. Parts of me have constant surveillance on the escape pods and the control room… There’s nowhere to go, honey.”

[Pause]

[He pauses and a bit of a wry laugh leaves him]

“Beauty… Hmhmhm… have you ever heard the story of “Beauty and the Beast”?”

[Pause]

[You can hear his Eldritch form pass over everything around him, can hear the distant, muffled screams of those trapped within him]

“It’s a nice story, honey… Beauty falls in love with Beast, and they live happily ever after. C’mon, you haven’t eaten in days, no water… Don’t those beautiful flowers that grow in your hair need water, sweetie?”

[Pause]

[His voice shifts from that eerie calmness to what almost sounds like genuine distress]

“Beauty! P-Please, please… The LAST thing I want is to find your gorgeous little body without any of that life in it! I don’t want to hurt you, I PROMISE I won’t hurt you, so please just come out!”

[Pause]

“...Baby… Baby, baby, baby… Are you trying to tell me you’d rather starve to death than be in my arms? That hurts my feelings… the feelings you fucking FORCED me to have! Do you think I wanted this?! I am a black hole, love, I devour life as though it were godamned popcorn, and I’ve never felt bad, not ONCE, because creatures like me aren’t meant to feel bad! Can you imagine a lion… here’s hoping you know what a lion is… imagine a lion that had to eat meat as it always did, but this time? It felt bad for it. I DO feel bad for killing them, Beauty, but…”

[His voice cracks and, to your shock and horror, he begins to sob]

“T-They were going to take you away!!! I went to your fucking Elders, pleaded with them to let me have you as my mate, and they looked at me as though I were the most… disgusting thing in the cosmos. I asked for your hand, I even did it in the way your species normally would, and they…said…NO.”

[SFX: Metallic objects being knocked about as he rages]

“Do you… know how hard it is to be good, for a creature like me? To want to do things the honorable way… I broke myself to be what you wanted, and still…”

[He pauses and lets out a sigh, followed by a sad chuckle]

“... Sweetie, I know where you are… I’ve known all along. So, come on out, OK? Don’t make me yank you out of that little locker of yours…”

[Your heart sinks in the same moment it begins to pound. All you can do is curl inward more tightly as he approaches]

[SFX: A metallic door being wrenched free and flung across the room before the Listener is grabbed. Note: Speaker’s shadows would be very faintly whispering, but this is optional]

“There we are… There, there, there is my Beauty, oh… Baby, come here, you look so frail.”

[The shadows that make up his body swirl around you and draw you close. Mouths and other appendages brush you as he pulls you into his arms, smiling dreamily]

“Baby… I really missed you. Missed our morning chats. Missed feeling connected with you… Here, hold still, let me just brush your hair out of your lovely face… Please, won’t you at least consider it? Consider me? You told me that you hated this… Hated being rotated in and out, over and over, never having any control thanks to your dumbass Queen. Well… she’s dead now, love. You can be…anything you want, so long as you’re by my side.”

[Pause]

[He leans down, whispering in your ear, shaking against you]

“Think about it… You could be Queen, now, if you wanted… Or King or whatever fucking titles your species uses, doesn’t matter to me. Point is… This could be your ship. All of that money could be your fortune. And I, well… Ever your loyal protector and lover. Your guard dog. Your personal assassin. Your…executioner… Think…about…it.”

[Pause]

[You can do little besides stand in his embrace and let his lips caress your crown, your antennae, and your forehead. He’s desperate, you can feel it in every movement of his muscles]

“I just want you… It’s all I want… Please, Beauty…”

[You take your chance, pushing your lips up and kissing him. The brief shock lets you connect with him again, with whatever slim, feeble shred of humanity you managed to unlock]

“A-Ahh! No, please! Please, it’s too strong! The empathetic link is…”

[He shudders and falls on the bed, body twitching as it continues to hold you against it]

“Hhh… f-feels good… so good, so warm…. Don’t leave me again, OK? Please…”

[The emotions that answer your call startle you: desperation, anguish, desire, fear, rage, and hurt all swirl around him in an uncontrollable maelstrom]

“Don’t leave… Don’t leave me, Beauty, it’s… it’s so dark here… They left me to be eaten alive…”

[Your palm falls on his chest and the nightmarish mass of shadow pulses under your touch as though his heart is beating frantically]

“Don’t leave…”

[The quiet of the spaceship fills you as he passes out against you, sleeping fitfully. You can free yourself. You even have a chance to escape before he wakes]

“Don’t leave, Beauty…”

[But now… you aren’t as sure you want to]
