For clarification on the format of the script, any place that says (Pause) is a place for the Listener's response. Anything in \asterisks and italics** isn't meant to be read aloud, it's there to either hint at the tone or provide context that might help the script make more sense.
Summary: While watching a kissing scene in a movie, Narrator decides that they want to make out with someone, and Listener is the one they want to do it with. After proposing the idea to Listener, they both decided that sure, why not make out with your friend? After all, it's not like there's feelings involved... Right?
Word Count: 914 words (Not including any actions or cues left in asterisks and italics)
Writerâs Notes: Not too much to say on this one besides that it's less dialogue-heavy, more make-out heavy lol. Hope y'all enjoy all the same!
Script Below:
\Narrator and Listener are spending a lazy afternoon watching a movie on the couch. Both of them are invested in the movie, a romance that Listener chose earlier that night. The tension in the movie has finally built up to a steamy make out scene, which Narrator is watching with growing interest.**
"I don't usually say this, but you picked a really good movie tonight."
(Pause)
"Yeah, I know I don't usually like romance movies, but this is⌠I don't know. It's different. It's actually good, unlike the rest of the movies you choose."
\Scoffing, Listener gently bumps their shoulder against Narratorâs. Narrator laughs and returns the gesture. Listener says that all of their movie choices are excellent.**
"No, they aren't. You have terrible taste in movies and I will stand by that until the day I die. This movie is the only one that isn't."
(Pause)
"Of course that means you still have bad taste in movies! Itâs just one of the laws of nature.â
(Pause)
âWell, every rule has an exception! Thatâs what makes it a rule! In this case, the exception to the âyour movie taste sucksâ rule is this single movie.â
\Listener rolls their eyes before they ask what makes that movie different from the others.**
âThis one is different because of, well, because of that.â
(Pause)
âYeah, the kissing.â
\Listener, mildly confused, laughs as they reply that itâs a romance movie, of course thereâs kissing.**
âI know itâs a romance movie, itâs just⌠I donât know. Just the way theyâre making out⌠It looks like fun.â
(Pause)
\Somewhat exasperated but insistent** âYeah! Fun! I think that making out with someone like they are would be fun. Donât you?â
(Pause)
âExactly! I knew youâd agree with me!â
\Listener, unsure how to respond, laughs as the movieâs romantic soundtrack grows louder. Both of them turn back to the movie for five to ten seconds before Narrator turns back to Listener.**
âHey. Letâs do it.â
\Confused and stunned, Listener asks Narrator what they mean.**
âWhat do you think I mean? I want to kiss you like that.â
\Listener chokes on air for a minute, trying to think of what to say before they settle on asking Narrator why they just asked them that.**
âObviously I said that because I want to kiss you. I just told you that!â
(Pause)
âBecause I think it would be fun to make out with someone, and you think it would be fun to make out with someone, so we should make out.â
(Pause)
âYeah, we can just like, make out as friends. Just for the hell of it, you know? I think it would feel pretty good to kiss you, and Iâve been told Iâm pretty good at it, so youâd enjoy fun, too.â
(Pause)
âYes, Iâm serious! Itâs been so long since either of us have been in a relationship, and I know youâve missed doing those kinds of things as much as I have. Donât try to deny it!â
\Reluctantly, Listener acknowledges that Narrator is right.**
âI knew it! See, we both want to make out with someone, so why not do it with each other? I trust you more than anyone else, and if Iâm going to do this with anyone, I want it to be you. Youâre the only one I want to do something like this with.â
\Listener considers it as* Narrator scoots closer to them.\*
\Slightly breathless, hopeful** âSo? What do you say? Can I make out with you?â
\Listener thinks about it for a few more moments before they agree.**
âYeah? You want to?â
(Pause)
\Excited** âOh my god, yes! Thank you! I promise this is going to be great! Iâll make this so good for you!â
\Laughing, Listener tells Narrator to calm down.**
âAlright, alright, Iâm calm. Sorry, Iâm just really excited to do this with you. Iâve actually thought about doing this with you a lot.â
(Pause)
âI mean, yeah, of course I have. Hasnât everyone thought about what it would be like to have their best friend get really close to them and look at them with those pretty eyes of theirs before kissing them until they were both weak in the knees?â
(Pause)
\Unconvinced** âUh, Iâm pretty sure everyone does. I mean, what else would I think about when Iâm trying to sleep at night but I donât want to go to bed because Iâm too busy thinking about you? I mean really, how else would I spend my free time?â
\Narrator laughs as Listener stares at them, knowing Narrator too well to think that theyâre joking. They instead decide to move closer to Narrator, cupping Narratorâs cheeks in their hands to both catch their attention and make them look Listener in the eyes. Narratorâs laugh abruptly stops as they find themselves returning Listenerâs gaze.**
âOh! Are we starting now?â
\Listener says yes as they lean in closer.**
\Quiet but excited, though trying to remain calm per Listenerâs request** âThis is just like what I imagined you would do. I always hoped that youâd be the type to touch my face when you kissed me. It feels so nice when someone puts their hand on my face when they kiss me - It feels even better now that itâs you.â
\Listener asks Narrator why it feels better because itâs them, trying to get them to catch onto their very blatant crush on Listener. Narrator just chuckles softly, enjoying the way that Listenerâs touching their cheeks.**
âI donât know. You just make everything better. Thatâs why I think about kissing you so much; because I know that if kissing someone feels nice, itâs going to feel fucking amazing with you.â
(Pause)
âHey, youâre kind of staring at me. Did I say something weird?â
\Listener shakes their head, exasperated while still being caught up in their adoration, before they ask Narrator if they want Listener to kiss them now.**
\Puppy-like, eager** âYeah, you can kiss me!â
(Short Pause)
\Slightly flustered, still happy** âPlease just⌠start slow? I really want to, you know⌠Savor this.â
\Listener leans in and presses a soft, chaste kiss to Narratorâs lips as Narrator's hands move to Listener's waist. Thereâs a brief pause before both lean in for another kiss, and a few more after that.**
\Slightly dazed** âOh wow. I was right. Kissing you feels even better than kissing other people. You feel so much better than everyone else. Can we keep going?â
\Narrator and Listener resume kissing, keeping to a slow but steady pace. However, Narrator interrupts this, breaking the kiss when Listener tries to move their hands away from Narratorâs face.**
\Disappointed** âHey, whyâd you move your hands?â
(Pause)
âAw⌠But I really like the way they feel on my faceâŚâ
\Listener tries to suppress a smile as they gently cup Narratorâs face in their hands again. They ask Narrator if that feels better, to which Narrator hums happily.**
âMm, yeah, that feels good. Please keep your hands right there - keep holding me like this."
\Listener and Narrator resume kissing, though with more desire than before. It grows more passionate as they continue, their kisses melding together until theyâre making out. After a minute or so, Narrator pulls back, panting for breath.**
âFuck, this is amazing. I love how it feels to kiss you. Come closer and sit in my lap; I need you closer to me.â
\Listener agrees, moving to sit in Narratorâs lap before they begin to make out again. They hold tight to each other as their emotions build up and spill into their kisses. Between kisses, Narrator mumbles sweet nothings (i.e., âYou make me feel so good,â âI want to kiss you forever,â âYouâre fucking amazing,â âI love how you kiss me,â etc). This goes on for as long as Narrator sees fit before they pull apart, pausing when they catch each otherâs eyes.**
\Breathless, hesitant** âHey, I⌠I think I need to tell you something.â
(Pause)
\Growing more nervous** âI donât think Iâm making out with you as âjust my friendâ anymore. I think that Iâm making out with you in a âmore than friendsâ kind of way, and I want that. I want to make out with you as more than just my friend.â
(Pause)
âI want you to be more. I want you to be mine. I want to make out with you like weâre together, like we belong to each other.â
\Listener, excited Narrator finally realized their own feelings, surges forward to kiss Narrator.**
\Stunned** âYeah, just⌠Just like that.â
(Pause)
âHuh? Oh, I meant that thatâs how I wanted to kiss you. Just like that. Like you and I were more than friends.â
\Listener tells Narrator that they can be more than friends, if they want.**
\Increasingly happy/excited** âWe can? We can be like, together? As a couple?â
(Pause)
âOh my god, yes! Iâd love that! Can-Can we keep kissing? I want to keep kissing you.â
(Pause)
âYou mean it? For as long as I want?â
(Pause)
\Still giddy** âOf course I can! Iâll make sure that you enjoy every single second so youâll never want to stop!â
\Narrator laughs for a few moments before Listener kisses them again, successfully capturing their attention and directing it back to making out with Listener. Narrator can decide for how long they make out before fading into silence.**
