Summary: You, a wizard apprentice, are telling your girlfriend/SO that you have magic for the first time. You also accidentally turned them into a frog and need to find a way to reverse the curse-*ahem* spell.

The wizard is nervous and kind of clumsy, so imagine that being the emotional cue throughout.

Wiz: M-morning love.

-pause for listener-

Wiz: Um I didn’t actually get to sleep last night.

-pause for listener-

Wiz: I was…ummm…busy studying some things and I…umm…that is to say…I…

-pause for listener-

Wiz: (rushed) Right, right. Out with it. Um, I think an experiment went…sideways.

-pause for listener-

Wiz: No. Not a science experiment per say. More of a…how do I say this…I have some skills that you might not believe are real.

-pause for listener-

Wiz: No, I don’t mean like Liam Niesen type of skills! I mean like…magical skills. I…I’m a student of the arcane.

-pause for listener-

Wiz: Don’t laugh, I’m being serious, babe.

-pause for listener-

Wiz: I’m an actual wizard. Well, a wizarding apprentice really. (rapidly and anxiously) Actually, I can’t claim the title of wizarding apprentice until I’ve completed at least four years of wizarding college and then passed my exams but, you get what I mean.

-pause for listener-

Wiz: I know you think I’m joking, but haven’t you noticed anything…different?

-pause for listener-

Wiz: Now, don’t be alarmed now, but do you feel like things are maybe a tad bit…bigger?

-pause for listener-

Wiz: Or that you feel colder? -pause- Yes, that’s because my experiment was with a transmutation spell that might have gone wrong.

-pause for listener-

Wiz: What I mean is that I-or rather my experiment- turned you into a frog.

-pause for listener-

Wiz: woah, calm down, calm down! I’m sure I can fix this, darling. I know I can do it. I just need to reverse engineer the cur-*ahem* the spell and determine what went wrong. Shouldn’t take more than a few hours…or days.

-pause for listener-

Wiz: Don’t be upset! Please, I didn’t mean for it to happen! Sweetie, I’m sorry! I know, I messed up, but I CAN fix this.

-pause for listener-

Wiz: Well, I mean I wasn’t lying about being a wizard. I just…couldn’t tell you because some people don’t trust magic users that way. I know it's wrong to not tell you, but I mean, being a spellcaster can be dangerous. -pause- It’s a poor excuse, I know, I know. And I'm sorry that I omitted the truth. But let me make this right.

-pause for listener-

Wiz: Yes, the spell should be easy to reverse. -pause- Yes, you may kick my ass after I’m done. I’m sorry, again sweetheart. Now, I’ve been up all night looking at possible reasons for the spell to have gone wrong.

-pause for listener-

Wiz: True loves kiss? What, no! That’s not how magic works, babe, it isn’t a fairytale. Magic takes time to learn about, years of study, and even then you still have formulas to learn. There’s all kinds of different magic, it doesn’t mean that this specific spell can be reversed with “true loves” kiss. That’s just stuff we tell children.

-pause for listener-

Wiz: What? No, it wasn’t a potion. Just because you saw that movie about those kids doing magic in school-I just…I just mean that wouldn’t work because that’s alchemy and it's not my area of study. It wouldn’t last this long anyway, plus you’d have to ingest it, which you didn’t so that rules it out.

-pause for listener-

Wiz: (slowing down) I…I’m sorry, me going on a tirade about magic isn’t helping, I know. I’m just…I just turned my girlfriend into a frog! I’m a little upset at the moment.

-pause for listener-

Wiz: (sheepishly) No, you’re right, you have every right to be more upset than I am at the moment. Okay…let me slow down. Okay, let me try and see if explaining it helps me figure out the problem. So. To begin with, a wizard must know formulas and figures, it's more science than other kinds of spellcasters. Sorcerers use magic innate but they don’t understand how the magic works. That’s how I know I can undo this spell. It should be a simple polymorph spell, but for some reason it's not ending. I’m not concentrating on the spell, so something I did might have turned it to a true polymorph spell. That can’t be possible, or at least it shouldn’t be, considering I’ve only been practicing the arcane arts for a year-

-pause for listener-

Wiz: (trying to reassure the listener) And some change! A year and some change. Goodness, this might take longer than I thought. (exasperated sigh) Don’t worry, I’ll figure this out. Let me try one incantation that I know of. It’s a counterspell. Here: [feel free to insert your own magic words if mine are too difficult for you] Ahet em-esh fidieos cal-hamet.

*magical sounds*

Wiz: That counterspell should have worked! Ugh, fine. Okay…I’ve got one last thing I can try.

-pause for listener-

Wiz: You want me to just try kissing you? I-I…let me just try this first, dear. Please. I just don’t want to- no its not that I don’t trust you. I’ve been doing this for a long time, let me try this first. Okay?

-pause for listener-

Wiz: Thank you, darling. Okay…

*sounds of magic failing*

Wiz: What in the? It didn’t work? How did that not work, that’s…that’s not possible.

-pause for listener-

Wiz: I know, I know. I need to take a deep breath, calm down. Alright, this is going to be a long wait. I’ll need to go study and…I’m so sorry I did this to you, sweetie. I promise I’ll make it right.

-pause for listener-

Wiz: A kiss before I go? That’s fair. I know you’re a frog and all, but its still you. Its still my favorite person in the world. I…I love you. *kissing noise*

*sounds of magic*

Wiz: WHAT! How did that work!? That shouldn’t work! What in the…

-pause for listener-

Wiz: You cast the spell? You know magic?

-pause for listener-

Wiz: So that’s why you weren’t so mad at me. That makes sense. You’re a warlock! I…I have so many questions. I…-Wizard is interrupted by a kiss from listener- I suppose that will have to do for an explanation for now. I’m…I’m sorry I didn’t trust you enough to tell you what I am from the start. I promise, no more secrets from me from now on. I’m just glad you’re okay, love. Why don’t we get some breakfast and talk about this some more?

-pause for listener-

Wiz: Yes, I’ll even make your favorite. Gods, you had me going. Come on you, I’ll need your hands in the kitchen then.

-pause for listener-

Wiz: I love you too, darling.
