Author's note: A Valentine's Day special - my first ever proper multi speaker script! It's about 3k words in total. I hope y'all have fun adapting and performing it! :D
Introduction (for listeners): Legend has it that every year on the same day, a lavish masquerade is held in the castle by the coast. It is said to be visited by vampires from all over the world, and you eventually become curious. You dress yourself in your best attire and attempt to infiltrate the festivities to see for yourself, whether the stories are true. In your nervous pacing through the bushes, you attract the attention of a beautiful young lady, who decides to invite you in…
For speakers: Every year on the same day, the vampiress Lucia hosts her birthday celebration in her castle, complete with a masquerade ball that nowadays anyone may attend (though usually only vampires dare to). This year, a few rare guests have chosen to show up.
Lucia (pronounced Lucy-a): 750 words
- 526 years old
- Still values life itself, but is quick to turn a human into a vampire to 'save their life', since she has forgotten what it means to be human. Is known to turn people after accidentally killing them during feeding (- which Aset and Claudette despise her for).
- Has a velvety smooth voice, speaks with a royal might and always sounds calm and collected (if at times a bit flirty) - a perfect diplomat.
- Cold with Claudette, resentful but respectful with Aset. Doesn't believe vampires should get that old and strong, but has no power over them.
- A Tsundere, I guess? (Doesn't let others see her weaknesses, secretly very soft and caring)
Cecilia (pronounced Ce-ciil-lia): 500 words
- 291 years old
- Likes toying with humans, but values their life and their voice for the most part. Doesn't see what's wrong with 'letting loose' every once in a while, still tries to avoid killing people.
- Cheeky and a bit cocky, loves to tease and always has a flirty undertone in her voice.
- Very playful and elegant, almost catlike in everything she does.
- Close with Lucia, decently close with Valentine as they have spent a lot of time together.
- A yandere, maybe?? (Loves to let her 'dark side' loose - often resulting in bloody messes, can get quite possessive)
Aset (pronounced Ah-set): 300 words
- 2.363 years old, the first vampire
- Considers others weak and would rather be the one to turn a new vampire, to make them strong and fit for her legacy. Doesn't really care much for human life, has never been human and therefore does not understand the value of 'life' itself.
- Cold, but enjoys any pleasures that come her way and prefers to avoid fights. Feels entitled to anything and everything, is not afraid to take what she wants and say what she thinks.
- Flirty, teasy, but quick to judge and threaten. Very subtle in her ways, finds it easy to veil her true intentions and thoughts, so she tends to be very difficult to read.
- Enjoys Claudette's company, since she still follows the old teachings.
- A kamidere, probably. (Superiority complex, bossy)
Claudette (pronounced Claw-dett): 250 words
- 1.213 years old
- Physically the oldest
- Sometimes visits the masquerades to see what the younglings are up to (and tease Lucia). Considers the other vampires to be below her and only respects Aset. Shares much of Aset's attitude and doesn't care for human life.
- Generally cold with a dark sense of humour, teases and bickers a lot as part of her sadistic tendencies. Cold and calculated, very short with words.
- Has a lower voice and often sounds annoyed and exhausted. Barely shows emotion, very monotone.
- A Kuudere, most likely. (Cold and logical, very blunt)
Nora: 550 words
- 149 years old (rather young for a vampire)
- First time returning to the castle in a very long time, since she's not on great terms with Lucia. Values human life and is more curious about vampires than anything else.
- Has a scientific world view and doesn't show much emotion, but is still friendly. Very intelligent and well read, enjoys poetry and solving puzzles.
- Direct, a bit shy and introverted. Hides in her shell most of the time, but Valentine motivates her to experience new things.
- Has only recently met Valentine but likes her company.
- A Dandere, if you must. (Shy and emotionally distant, very intelligent but somewhat anti-social)
Valentine: 450 words
- 45 years old, was turned 24 years ago (complete baby vampire)
- Bubbly and happy, lighthearted. Still sees herself as human, since she hasn't yet lost control and is still very young, not realising what 'eternal life' really means. Cannot even begin to fathom Aset and Claudette's age, since Lucia already seems ancient to her.
- Free spirited and friendly, very welcoming. Prefers humans over vampires, but likes anyone she can have an intellectual conversation with.
- Extroverted and loves talking to people, very considerate and always making sure the people around her are comfortable. A gentle soul, still very 'alive'/humaine, unlike most of the others.
- A Moe, more or less. (Pure and sweet, has a good heart)
If you want to use a 'mommy voice' for characters, let it be Lucia, Claudette and/or Aset.
Usage: Everything goes, as long as you give credit! Adjust wording, change stuff, improvise, add or remove scenes, make it nsfw if you want. For any questions, feel free to ask! Have fun! :D
Monetization/paywall is ok, but I'd appreciate being sent a free copy!
Sfx optional but they enhance the experience, if you have access.

[sfx: muffled ball music, leaves rustling, dirt crunching underneath shoes as the listener paces/scouts the premise]
Lucia: So my ears did not deceive me. What an odd surprise…
Lurking around the castle at night? What strange manners you have, my Dear.
[short pause, leaves rustling slightly]
I can see you perfectly, there really is no need to hide.
…
You are no hunter, are you? Perhaps you are curious, wondering if the rumours are true…
We have entertained our fair share of unexpected visitors throughout the years, but I must admit; this is the first time I found somebody spying from the bushes.
…
Come on out, my Dear. I shall show you inside. That way you may confirm for yourself.
[short pause, leaves rustle again as the listener steps out]
(playful, teasing:) I see you are already dressed for the occasion. Planning to invade a stranger's ball? How daring.
(chuckle)
Oh, not to worry. Those brave enough to enter are always welcome inside.
…
But before I forget, allow me to introduce myself.
You may call me Lucia. And this lovely masquerade is how I tend to celebrate my birthdays.
…
Flustered, are we?
…
You surely must have heard about this castle being inhabited by vampires. Yet still you came to see for yourself. Very curious, indeed.
You must be quite adventurous to come here all alone. But I cannot allow such a charming guest to miss the event.
…
It would be my pleasure to escort you inside. You will be under my personal protection for the night.
[short pause, listener hesitates]
There really is no need to worry, my Dear. I promise you, not a soul here wishes to harm you.
Vampires are much better behaved than the legends would lead you to believe.
And the premises are guarded, so that no fights may break out. Simply call for help, if you do find yourself in need of it.
I will not allow any ruckus within my castle. And thus far, there have been no incidents in the three centuries this ball has been taking place.
…
(chuckle) Oh no, Dear. I am a bit older than that.
But enough, now.
Shall we?
I promise I will not bite. Not for now, at least.
…
There we go.
Straighten your back, Dear. You look as though you are about to walk into a lion's den.
You will be perfectly safe tonight.
But be careful when exploring around the castle.
(flirty but ominous, underlying warning:) In a structure as old as this one, you never know what you might come across.
[they walk through the entrance door, the music and chatter grow louder]
Cecilia: (flirty/teasing:) Found you. Did you really think you could escape me, Lucia?
Lucia: Why should I ever attempt such a thing? I simply had something else to tend to.
For that matter, may I introduce you to our newest guest?
Cecilia: Well, now who is this charming figure? A new face, and then such a stunning one… It is a pleasure to welcome you here, stranger.
Lucia: Mind your manners.
Cecilia: (teasing Lucia) My sincerest apologies.
My name is Cecilia. How may I tend to your needs and desires?
Lucia: I must request you keep an eye on them for the night. Our guest may be a little more… fragile than we are used to.
Cecilia: Oh, that should be fairly simple. Though I cannot promise to take my eyes off of you again, stranger. You're quite captivating.
Lucia: Good. But forget not to give them space. Our guests are not your toys, remember that.
Cecilia: I shall attempt to behave.
Lucia: I suppose that is the most I may expect of you.
Cecilia: (teasing:) How harsh of you, Lucia. Speaking as though you are innocent…
Lucia: Must I remind you -?
Cecilia: Save me your lectures. … But may I suggest we show our guest around? The garden is lovely at sunset. The ballroom will be all the same later, but once the sun fully fades, most of the garden's beauty will be hidden.
Lucia: Perhaps you are right. And it should not be too cold outside just yet.
This way, my Dear.
[sfx: a small thud of a person walking into another]
Aset: Careful now.
Lucia: (startled, quickly catching herself again:) Aset, what a surprise- You so rarely decide to join us.
Aset: I have been fairly busy at the residence, but Claudette suggested I should take some time away from it all.
Lucia: (cold but friendly:) Then I must hope you enjoy the night.
Had I known you would visit, I would have had a room prepared for you.
Aset: Perhaps another time.
…
But… who might this be?
(chuckles)
How bold of you to bring a human here, Lucia.
Lucia: (a little accusatory:) Surely, my guests know to behave themselves.
Aset: Perhaps I underestimate modern vampires. (sarcastic, criticising Lucia:) Or perhaps you will simply feed them your blood if anything does happen.
Lucia: (ignoring the second remark:) Times change. Nevertheless, I wish you an enjoyable evening.
Aset: (teasing/almost flirty) I quite like this side of you. I never knew you to be so… protective. Over a stranger, nonetheless.
Claudette: Such loyalty I would have wished to see from you, too, Lucia. But instead, you have only disappointed and disregarded me.
Lucia: (through clenched teeth:) Claudette…
(almost sassy?:) Well, perhaps you should have attempted earning my favour.
Claudette: Perhaps I was not human enough for your liking.
Lucia: (diplomatic:) Perhaps not. But nonetheless, I welcome you to my castle. Life is too long to hold on to such meaningless bickering.
Aset: (chuckles) It seems as though Lucia is getting ahead of us. But I must agree. Where would we be if we took everything so personally…?
Claudette: Is it really of any importance? Wars are won by persisting, after all. And if one grows too soft, they lose the ability to fend for themself.
Aset: This is hardly a battlefield, dear Claudette. Perhaps you too need some time to rest your mind.
Claudette: (sighs) Must you really torment me with my own advice? I believe I know what is best for myself.
Aset: Perhaps it is necessary.
Claudette: I remain doubtful… My mindset has not done me wrong thus far.
Lucia: Not you, but plenty others.
Claudette: You are far too sensitive.
My efforts to harden you were thoroughly wasted.
…
To believe you once seemed so promising…
Aset: There is no sense in pondering now. Things are as they are, and we did not come to argue.
Claudette: Such words of appeasement out of your mouth? I never knew you to be so 'diplomatic'… Are you not normally the one who strives to be in the right?
Aset: Does it bother you, my Dear?
We can go exhaust your frustrations elsewhere, but I request you behave as long as we have company.
Claudette: Must you talk down to me like this? I may not have reached your age yet, but I am hardly a child.
Aset: I must, as long as you are embarrassing yourself. Have you not yet learned proper etiquette in your time?
But what else am I to expect from a farmer's girl…
Claudette: Yet still you chose to turn me, despite all the royal fools at your disposal.
At least I have earned my titles and was not simply born with them.
Lucia: The wars you have fought were neither glorious nor selfless, Claudette. Do not act as though you deserve recognition for your slaughter.
Claudette: You have no clue of the world, Lucia. You, in your castle with grandiose fests, living in excess.
Neither before nor after your time with me have you felt hunger nor pain. Is that what you consider deserving? I made you. And you could have been a woman, if you stopped being a failure.
Aset: Now, now. There is no need for insults. Calm yourself, Claudette.
This is neither the time nor place for such discussions.
Claudette: (frustrated sigh) Fine. But do not mistake my silence for agreement.
Aset: Will you behave yourself now?
Claudette: (through clenched teeth) Yes, ma'am.
Aset: Was that so difficult?
You must not always speak your crude thoughts. All it will achieve is meaningless quarrel.
…
But oh, let us bother you no longer.
Claudette and I were on our way to the library to escape the noise for a moment. Though, any of you are welcome to join us, shall you wish to do so.
That expands to you as well, little human. (flirty:) I am rather intrigued by you, and surely, you will survive a bite or two.
Lucia: Farewell, then.
[pause]
Lucia: How odd it feels to see Claudette on such a tight leash… Perhaps it will do her well.
…
Oh Dear… I must apologise. I did not mean for you to get caught in that crossfire.
Though you might consider yourself lucky. Just now, you met two of the oldest still living vampires.
Not many mortals have had that chance.
…
It is said that Aset was the first of our kind, and she must be well over a thousand years old by now.
A fairly frightening thought, is it not?
But we should hurry along now. The sun is setting already.
[short pause, Lucia notices a vampire waving to him]
Lucia: (disappointed:) Ah, it appears one of the council members wishes to speak to me. Cecilia, show our guest around while I tend to this, will you?
Cecilia: It will be my pleasure.
Lucia: Good. I shall meet you again once I am finished.
Cecilia: Follow me, Dear.
[pause as they walk out into the garden. The music and chatter fades]
I must apologise for the scene you witnessed. Claudette and Lucia have never been on best terms.
Older vampires tend to share a… different set of values than their younger counterparts. So bickering like this is far from seldom, though we usually manage to avoid escalations.
You see, Claudette was the one who turned Lucia. From what I know, it was quite the painful procedure in their case.
…
Lucia is still rather secretive about the details, so I never dared to ask more about it.
…
(chuckles) Not as glorious as you imagined, is it?
I promise you, most vampires do not have such drastic views. Or at the very least, they know to conceal them for social events…
[short pause]
Valentine: Cecilia! You, here? Should you not be celebrating inside?
Cecilia: Is it so strange for me to enjoy the gardens?
Valentine: Perhaps not. I simply did not expect it.
But I see you have company. Are you here in search of privacy?
Cecilia: (to listener:) Are we? (chuckles) Perhaps later. For now, I am simply offering a tour of the premises to our new guest.
Valentine: Oh, a new guest? I welcome you to the masquerade, then! My name is Valentine, it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance.
Cecilia: May I ask who your companion might be?
Nora: I believe we have not been introduced.
I'm Nora Heart, an heir of Lucia's.
Cecilia: Is that so? I have never seen you at the masquerades thus far.
Nora: I have been… absent. But I recently came into town again and Valentine convinced me to attend this year.
Valentine: Can you believe this to be her first? In a hundred years, not once has she come to visit the castle!
Nora: These big events are usually rather overwhelming to me. I tend to prefer quieter, more secluded settings.
Hence, we found ourselves in the gardens, rather than the midst of the celebrations.
Valentine: Either way, I much appreciate your presence here tonight.
Nora: (friendly, genuine:) The same to you, my friend.
Cecilia: (teasing:) How sweet.
Valentine: (teasing back:) Surely, you are not envious of whom I spend my time with?
Cecilia: I have no need to be, dear Valentine.
But oh, the sun is about to set… I apologise, my darling stranger. Shall we continue our tour?
Valentine: (chuckles) To tell you the truth, I was about to show the gardens to Nora, too. Perhaps we could join you?
Cecilia: I would be honoured to be your guide, my Dearest.
Nora: I see you do live up to your reputation.
Cecilia: I have a name to uphold, after all.
Valentine: I find the myths do no justice to the woman.
Nora: Is that so?
Cecilia: (chuckles) (flirty:) Perhaps you would like to find out for yourself?
Nora: Your offer flatters me, but I believe you misjudge my intentions.
Cecilia: I sense that to be a rejection?
Nora: I shall let you know, should my mind be changed.
Cecilia: Such directness. I see what Lucia must have liked about you.
Nora: I hesitate to believe that.
Cecilia: So there is more to it, then?
Nora: Certainly less than you think.
Cecilia: Lucia never ceases to surprise me.
But alas… Follow me.
Valentine: I believe this is the way to the pond?
Cecilia: That is quite right.
The pond was the last item to be added to the gardens, long after the castle was already built.
In its stead, there used to be a small maze that also covered the grounds of what has now become the rose bed, but I never got to see the previous layout in person.
Valentine: It certainly is beautiful now. Especially around noon, when the scales of the fish shimmer in the most exquisite colours, and the water shines like liquid gems.
Nora: Perhaps I should visit again another time?
Valentine: You most certainly should! And you too, dear guest. The gardens are loveliest during the day.
Cecilia: I am certain Lucia will allow it, should we ask her later.
Speaking of which…
I suppose I should go to see whether she needs rescuing from the council.
Forgive my brief goodbyes, but I trust our guest will be in good hands with you two?
Valentine: Worry not, we know to behave ourselves.
[short pause as Cecilia leaves, maybe some quick footsteps on grass growing distant]
Nora: What strange friends you have, Valentine.
Valentine: Oh, they are quite pleasant, once you get to know them. Perhaps not what you are used to, but lovely company nonetheless.
Nora: I suppose I would have to adjust to somebody of her likes. I tend to frequent… slightly different circles.
Valentine: Surely, the two of you could become friends quicker than you expect. Though, perhaps that is an endeavour for another time.
But enough of that, now! We have somebody to tend to, after all.
It would be rather rude of us to further ignore such a lovely person.
Nora: Indeed it would. I'd prefer to avoid tainting such a charming face with a frown.
Valentine: Fear not, my Dear. I promise we will not bite, if you take a step closer.
You are perfectly safe with us.
Nora: Perhaps safer than you would be inside.
Some guests tend to forget their manners all too easily…
Valentine: Most that I have met thus far were rather well behaved.
Though, you might know more of their quirks than I.
Nora: You overestimate my knowledge of these people. Most of the vampires here today, I have kept at a distance.
Still, it may be true that I would have more experience than you. I have seen more of what vampires are capable of, how they behave.
Valentine: I suppose you are right. All this is still very new to me…
But how about you, dear guest? How long have you known the people here?
[pause]
Nora: How daring…
You must not be too fond of your mortal life, to come to a place as this one, on your own accord.
Valentine: How is it wrong to seek adventure?
Nora: Considering how curiosity might claim their life, I do believe it would be best to consider such a jaunt thoroughly.
…
(very genuine:) Many vampires had their life taken from them involuntarily and prematurely.
Valentine: (slightly concerned:) You sound as though you speak from experience…?
Nora: (weak chuckle) You are quite perceptive…
Only few vampires that I have met had a say in their turning.
…
In my case, it was a moment tainted with grief and carelessness.
Valentine: How do you mean?
Nora: (takes a breath to gather courage) Well…
Not quite 150 years ago, my previously widowed mother lost her life to illness.
I was hardly more than a girl at the time, and did not handle myself well.
That is how I first met Lucia, in a state where I did not care for my own life, subdued by liquor and a paralysing sadness.
She did not mean to drain me, but I suppose that part of my story is shared across many.
She attempted to revive me through the healing properties of her blood, but it was too late for me to be saved…
Valentine: Oh, that does sound much like my own origin. Except… for me it was more dissatisfaction and an urge for new experiences, rather than grief, that brought me here.
Still, in essence, we are not too different.
Though… you sound so pessimistic about it. I understand that you were not given a choice, but… Is it not exciting, still? The heightened senses, the healing abilities, the strength.
Nora: Surely, you speak from a place of naivety, rather than ignorance. Nonetheless, there are many negative sides to vampirism, though you might not have experienced most of them yet. You are still so young… so innocent.
(small sigh)
I would not hope so, but you will likely view these things as I do, soon enough…
Valentine: (disappointed/a bit frowny:) What a gloomy outlook…
Nora: I can only hope you will be spared of these dark realities. No soul deserves to live through such emotional and physical torment.
Vampirism is not quite as glorious as it may seem at first glance…
Valentine: (curious, genuine:) Have you? … Experienced this tragedy you speak of, I mean.
Nora: Not quite - not in the prevalent sense, at least. Though, I have seen those around me fall victim to it far too often.
[short pause]
I apologise. I did not mean to evoke unease within either of you.
Perhaps discussions such as this one are better held under different circumstances…
Valentine: It is quite alright.
But I believe we should escort our guest back inside now… The night has grown rather frigit, it appears.
Nora: Oh, you poor thing. You're shivering already- I should have been more considerate.
Please, let us guide you back to the warmth of the ballroom.
[sfx: quiet footsteps on grass as they make their way back, slow fade out]
