Sounds of the blankets rustling as she turns around in bed.

Girlfriend: "Sweetie?"

Girlfriend: "Hey, sweetie?"

Girlfriend: "Sweetie, wake up please."

Girlfriend: "Hey."

Girlfriend: "It's okay, it's just me."

Girlfriend: "Did you have a nightmare?"

Girlfriend: "Sshhh, it's alright"

Girlfriend: "Do you want to talk about it?"

Girlfriend: "No that's okay, you don't have to."

Girlfriend: "Could you turn around for me?"

Sound of the listener turning over.

Girlfriend: "Much better."

Sounds of her pulling the listener closer and kissing them

Girlfriend: "It was just a nightmare."

Girlfriend: "You're safe here with me, in our bed."

Girlfriend: "Nothing is going to hurt you sweetie."

Girlfriend: "I won't let anything or anyone hurt you, you hear me?"

Girlfriend: "No it's okay."

Girlfriend: "I don't want you to apologize for something that isn't your fault."

Girlfriend: "You didn't wake me up on purpose."

Girlfriend: "I'd rather stay up the whole night with you than wake up in the morning to find you miserable and sleep-deprived."

Girlfriend: "Besides, you know I'm a night owl, so I'll be fine."

Girlfriend: "No, you don't have to try to sleep."

Girlfriend: "I can tell you're still upset."

Girlfriend: "Don't you dare."

Girlfriend: "I told you it's no bother."

Girlfriend: "So no sleeping on the couch or what have you, you're staying here."

Girlfriend: "We could read a book together or watch something, you pick."

Girlfriend: "What do you say?"

Girlfriend: "Well there is that one novel I've been meaning to read, here."

Sound of her leaning and grabbing the book.

Girlfriend: "It's about a robot who tries to bring back her creator's joy."

Girlfriend: "I've heard it's a very sweet book if a bit somber at times."

Girlfriend: "Sure I can read it to you."

Girlfriend: "Let me just sit up a bit."

Sound of blankets rustling as they reposition.

Girlfriend: "There."

Girlfriend: "Now sit between my legs and lean back."

Girlfriend: "Comfy?"

Girlfriend: "Great."

Sound of her kissing the listener on the forehead.

Girlfriend: "You look so cute with your head on my chest like that."

Girlfriend: "Makes me just want to squeeze you like a teddy bear."

Girlfriend: Giggles. "What?"

Girlfriend: "I mean I do squeeze you whenever I'm anxious or stressed out, so it makes sense."

Girlfriend: "I love you too sweetie."

Sound of her kissing the listener.

Girlfriend: "You're so relaxed already."

Girlfriend: "Didn't you want me to read to you?"

Girlfriend: "Need a few more kisses?"

Girlfriend: "I can do that."

Kiss.

Girlfriend: "One for your lips."

Kiss.

Girlfriend: "One for your cheek."

Kiss.

Girlfriend: "And one for your forehead."

Girlfriend: "Is my teddy bear feeling better?"

Girlfriend: "Would you rather I call you my kitten?"

Girlfriend: "Or how about honeybunny?"

Girlfriend: "Perhaps snugglebee?"

Girlfriend: "Oh of course I'll still call you sweetie."

Girlfriend: "You're always gonna be my sweetie."

Sound of her giving the listener head scratches.

Girlfriend: "Okay okay, I'll lay off the sappiness."

Girlfriend: "Don't want you to faint from blushing."

Girlfriend: "But hey it works, you're smiling and everything."

Girlfriend: "Oh right, the book."

Girlfriend: "Nope, no horror or thriller elements here."

Girlfriend: "The are some minor sci-fi elements though."

Girlfriend: "You know me, I love me some sci-fi."

Girlfriend: "Oh absolutely, probably half of my books are sci-fi."

Girlfriend: "I know the writer from their previous work, so I had to get this one."

Girlfriend: "You remember that one novel with the rockstar twins I told you about?"

Girlfriend: "Yeah that's the same writer."

Girlfriend: "Their past books have had some robots as supporting characters, so I'm curious to see what they'll do with one as the protagonist."

Girlfriend: "From the things I've heard, this one might become my new favorite."

Girlfriend: "I know we usually read shorter books, but maybe if you like it we can make this our nightly ritual."

Girlfriend: "The weekend starts tomorrow so maybe we can do a bed day and read for a while."

Girlfriend: "Alright, let's get started then."

Sound of her opening the book.

Girlfriend: "Another quiet day has passed for Jenny, filled with ideas and schemes on how to lift his spirits."

Girlfriend: "Her creator has been more withdrawn lately, sinking ever deeper into his work."

Girlfriend: "But despite what her directives and friends said, she was determined to find what troubled him so much."

Audio slowly fades out as she keeps reading.

Girlfriend: "Luckily for her, she wasn't alone in this, for his assistant, Emily, has been helping her."

Girlfriend: "They have come up with all sorts of ideas to get him to stop working so much, to spend some time together."

Girlfriend: "They've not made a bit of progress so far, but Jenny is still determined to keep going."
