Hello everyone, I hope your day is going fine. Here is one of the last scripts I wrote for the spooky season. I decided to shorten the title from "Shy ghost accidentally dumps an entire bookshelf on top of you so you decide to tell them that you were able to see them the entire time which gets them super flustered" lol. Hope you enjoy!
And in case you would rather listen to it, may I recommend this fill made by the wonderful Mars? And the amazing Gaztation herself actually drew this little picture for me over on the ASMR RP Lounge server, so I just wanted to show it here as well:
PS: Also it got kind of long again, sorry!
As always, you are free to voice, perform, fill, or whatever else you might want to call it, this script as you please, as long as you do not hide it behind a paywall without a way for some to see it. I am okay with uploading it first on e.g. Patreon and releasing it on a free platform later. I would love to receive a link to the finished product, I enjoy seeing what other people make of my stuff
Changes you can make: You are free to change anything you like about the script. Especially the title and tags. You are free to define or change the gender of listener and speaker to whatever makes sense for you, add names, change petnames, etcâŚ
Also, I am always open to feedback, be it about the script itself, specific phrases, or about the format and better ways to provide the script to VAs.
I give explicit permission to use my scripts with AI generated thumbnails.
For anyone interested in meeting other creators, such as VAs and some writers, I recommend joining the ASMR RP Lounge on Discord! It is a very nice and welcoming community that I myself very much enjoy being a part of. (https://discord.gg/8kuRyGPE)
Summar: Your home has been haunted by a ghost ever since you moved in. The ghost seems to think that you can not see them, even though you totally can. However, you always pretended not to, as not to scare them off, since you think they are really cuteâŚ
For the VA: The speaker is very shy and easily flustered. However they also have a cheeky side that they display in the beginning while they still believe themselves invisible. While talking to the listener, they calm down a little and get comfortable talking with them before becoming embarrassed again during the confession.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Part 1: The ghost is unaware that the listener can see them
Speaker: *muffled* "Alright, wakey wakey rise and shine, me! It's time for another fulfilling night of haunting this house and⌠Hm, where are they actually? Let me see⌠Not in the kitchen⌠Not the bedroom either, huh? Weird, they are usually in here at this time of day⌠Maybe-"
[Door opens]
Speaker: "Oh, they really are in the living room! And it looks like I already fulfilled the first point on tonight's haunting agenda⌠Good evening, Living. Look at you, all flustered and wondering why the door just blew open all by itself. I wonder what is going through your mind right now. Did you remember that you left a window open and think a sudden gust of wind caused this? Or are you perhaps starting to believe that the suuuupernatural really does exist? Maybe you're even doubting your own sanity! Perhaps the door has always been open and the sound was just a figment of your imagination⌠Hey, Living! Which is it? Oooh that's right! You can't even see or hear me, now can you? How incredibly insensitive of me." *giggle* "All you could notice is the vague feeling that something⌠or someone is in the same room with you~"
[short pause]
Speaker: "Oh? You stood up. Does that mean you believe in the window theory?... Itâs almost a shame you canât see me floating behind you, and after I put so much practice into it as wellâŚâ
[Window closes]
Speaker: âGood job! You closed the window, so the spook is over!... But then why, my poor, unknowing Living, do you still feel so anxious? And if the window is no longer open, just where does this breeze come from?â
[Ear blowing]
Speaker: *laugh* âYour flustered expression is always so delightful to behold! Looking around in a panic whenever I do this, wondering where it could have come from⌠Hm, going back to your couch, are you? I almost remember what it was like to sit on one.â *sigh* âSeeing you sit down and relax like this, I⌠I canât help but wonder what it would feel like to sit next to you and cuddle up⌠Next to a crackling fireplace⌠Reading a book⌠Forgetting about the flow of time and the outside world⌠I may not remember everything from my life, but I am pretty sure I never got to experience that.â
[Book pages sound]
Speaker: âOh whatâs that? You were reading a book too? Itâs almost like you read my mind! Letâs see, what is this⌠âReign of the Phoenix and Dragon Volume 3â... Never heard of it before, but I guess I wouldnât understand anything even if I read alongside you, since it is volume 3 after all⌠I wonder if there are more volumes on the bookshelf.â
[Short pause]
Speaker: *mumbling* âHmm⌠âThe Siren Songâ... âTales of the Tired Firekeeperâ... âThe Young Masterâ... Oh, there it is! âReign of the Phoenix and Dragon Volume 1â... Maybe if I pull it out reeeeeeaaally carefully, they wonât notice. That should be okay, right? I should get to use the recreational materials since I also live here after all. Well, kind of at least⌠Anyway, here goes nothing. Come here book. Nice and slow~...Yes, I got it! Now I can read it and ca-â
[Book clatters]
Speaker: âDammit! Wait did you hearâŚâ *sigh* âOf course you did. It was a book falling to the ground, there is no way you didnât notice. And I was so close too⌠Hm, what should I do as revenge for putting it back into the shelf even though I wanted to read it⌠Oh yeah, how about this?â
[Book clatters]
Speaker: *giggle* âHow do you like that, Living? Every time you put one book back, Iâm gonna pull two more out. Thatâs gonna teach you, hmph!â
[Book clatters]
Speaker: âAnd thatâs another one! Just give up, you can not put the books back faster than I can pull them out.â
[Book clatters]
Speaker: *laugh* âThis is actually kind of fun! I canât believe I havenât thought about this way to haunt you earlier. Have you learned your lesson yet, my poor Living?â
[Book clatters]
Speaker: âGuess not, so Iâm just going to continue throwing books around, okay?â
[laughing and clattering sounds]
Speaker: *laugh* âTake this!... and this!...â
[Loud clatter]
Speaker: *scared/nervous* âOh no, I am so so sorry! I didn't mean to drop the entire bookshelf on you, I swear! I just got so into it and my telekinesis must have gone out of control andâŚâ *sigh* âWhat am I even doing, itâs not like you can even hear me. At least you are still moving, but I really hope that you are alrightâŚâ
Listener: *reply*
Speaker: âYou are? That is such a relief, and here I thought I had injur-... Wait a minute! How are you replying to me?!?â
Part 2: What? How can you see me?
Listener: *answer*
Speaker: âWhat? But you shouldnât be able to see OR hear me. I donât believe you, how many fingers am I holding up?â
Listener: *answers*
Speaker: âAnd now?â
Listener: *answers*
Speaker: âOkay, letâs say I believe that you can see me, even though that shouldnât be possible. That still leaves the question of why now suddenly. Did one of the books hit you in the head or something and⌠I donât know, rewired your brain or something?â
Listener: *answers*
Speaker: âWait what? Youâve always been able to see me? But you never talked to me before⌠Why-... Aaaaaaaaah! Oh no no no no no no, donât tell me you heard me talking to myself all this time too! Or the singing!â
Listener: *confirms*
Speaker: âOh by the gods, this is so embarrassing! No, donât look at me! I may be a ghost but I can still blush! Actually, it is much more apparent than for you Livings since it is basically a direct projection of my mental state onto my outer appearance and stuff and I am rambling again and I am so sorry I am just gonna go hide in some corner and hope the embarrassment is enough to make me pass over into the next lifeâŚâ
Listener: *objects*
Speaker: *whiny* âS-stay? B-but I am way too flustered right now, and HOW are you even grabbing on to my hand? You are literally touching an intangible being right now! Let me go, so I can just go die in peace or somethingâŚâ
Listener: *reply*
Speaker: âO-okayâŚâ *deep breath* âBut only if you promise not to laugh at me, okay? I swear I will run away the second, no the SPLIT second you make fun of me!â
Listener: *agrees*
Speaker: âGood good⌠Y-you can let go of my hand now, by the way.â
Listener: *apology*
Speaker: âOh no no no, itâs nothing like that! I didnât feel uncomfortable or anything, donât worry. It actually felt⌠kind of nice, to be honest⌠In a way that was also super embarrassing.â
Listener: *question*
Speaker: âIâm acting differently now than before? I mean⌠yes? Until now I thought you couldnât see me, so I just⌠Do you know the phrase âDance like Nobodyâs watchingâ? Basically that⌠In life, I used to be a pretty shy person⌠still am. No matter where I was, I always felt like everybody around me was staring at me and judging me. So⌠you know, dying and turning into a ghost, that was supposed to be invisible to Livings, was actually kind of⌠almost freeing. I could just float around and act like I pleased without being afraid of judgment. And I discovered that I maybe, possibly, theoretically have a bit of a mischievous side, so I started pranking you⌠I-I know it sounds weird to say that death was a good thing, but thatâs not what I mean either. Just âin a wayâ okay?â
Listener: *reply*
Speaker: âYou⌠understand? Reallyâ
Listener: *reply*
Speaker: *chuckle* âIn a way, I see. I guess that is fair. I wouldnât really expect a Living like you to understand the true meaning of death. I know that I for sure didnât back then.â
Listener: *question*
Speaker: âWhy do I keep calling you that? W-what, Living?... Thatâs just what spirits, ghosts, and so on call you people. Creatures that are alive. I thought it was kind of self explanatory.â
Listener: *question*
Speaker: âOh, you mean why this word specifically⌠I think itâs mostly because there is not better one to be honest. I heard some call you âfleshbagsâ, but I find that kind of derisive, so I donât like to use it. Itâs also not really accurate, you know? Vampires and revenants are also undead, but they still have flesh, donât they?â
Listener: *question*
Speaker: âNo, I donât know any vampires myself, I only heard that they existed. I⌠donât really leave this place, so all I know about the ghost community, if you want to call it that, comes from some wandering spirits I met a long time ago.â
Listener: *reply*
Speaker: â...Yes, still a shut in. I guess some things donât change even after death, do they?... Though it probably became even worse when compared to my life. Think about it, no matter how much you might want to stay inside all day, you would still have to go out to buy food and necessities, or you would have people checking on you, social gatherings to attend, and what else. But all of that is not relevant for ghosts like me, so I really only stayed inside this place with⌠with you. And I have to say, this house⌠kind of grew on me. When I moved in it stood empty for a few years until you moved in. At first I was a bit annoyed by the constant noise you brought into my home, so I miiiight have acted a bit aggressive early on, but then I⌠got used to it. I still continued my pranks though.â
Listener: *reply*
Speaker: *chuckles* âYeah, you obviously noticed that. Iâm going to miss that. Itâs really a shame that Iâll have to say goodbye to it allâŚâ
Part 3: Anyway, I guess I better get goingâŚ
Listener: *question*
Speaker: âWhy? I mean, now that you have confronted me, you are going to kick me out of here, right? And I donât want to cause you any real trouble or make you call an exorcist, so Iâm just going to take the graceful way out.â
Listener: *objects*
Speaker: âW-what? You⌠actually want me to stay? But why? All I ever did was annoy you.â
Listener: *answer*
Speaker: âYouâŚâ *sigh* âI guess I understand. Even though we never really interacted before, I also enjoyed the feeling of living with someone else. And I also feel like we grew closer over time. Like we adapted to each otherâs habits. Are you absolutely sure you want me to stay?â
Listener: *confirms*
Speaker: âReally?â
Listener: *confirms*
Speaker: âYouâre not going to call an exorcist on me?â
Listener: *confirms*
Speaker: âThen⌠Fine. And⌠thank you for letting me stay here⌠Does that⌠Does that mean that we are now roommates? Like, officially?â
Listener: *denies*
Speaker: âB-but why not? I thought you wanted to live together?â
Listener: *explains*
Speaker: âYou⌠want to be more?... Oh, you mean like friends! I would love to be your friend! I never really had friends before.â
Listener: *reply*
Speaker: âFor now?... What does that me-â
Listener: *reply*
Speaker: âOkay, if you say so, I wonât worry about it⌠But that makes me so happy! What should we do as friends? Should we, like⌠shake on it? Or do introductions? I mean, I know pretty much everything about you, since I live in your home and all, but I am sure you have questions for me, right? Iâll try to answer anything as best I can.â
Listener: *question*
Speaker: "Oh, my name is⌠actually I don't remember. It also doesn't really matter now, I think. A lot of details about life become⌠fuzzy once you die. I also don't know why that happens, but I guess it might be something like a mental defense mechanism. Like my brain is trying to protect me against the pain that would come with the memories. Only that I don't have a brain anymore of course."
Listener: *question*
Speaker: âHm, I also donât know how thinking works for me then⌠My best guess is that consciousness in the first place is not just a product of electric signals in your synapses. Instead it is the other way around. Itâs not that I can think despite not having a brain, but that you can think because you also have a soul possessing your body. So nothing really changes after death when it leaves. Or maybe it would be better to say when you leave your body behind.â
Listener: *question*
Speaker: âHow can I touch objects if I donât have a body anymore? That is actually something I can answer! Itâs⌠really easy. I canât. When I pick things up, like this book for example, I donât touch it directly, instead I move it with telekinesis. Technically it doesnât matter how far away it is, but if I pretend to touch it, it makes the image in my head more accurate and it becomes easier. I donât want to bore you with all that magical stuff. Oh that is also essentially how I talk. By using telekinesis on the air around me to make it vibrate.â
Listener: *question*
Speaker: âThen how were you able to touch me?... The most likely explanation is that you subconsciously used a kind of telekinesis to grab onto my essence. But that requires a lot of willpower and intent, so⌠I⌠I guess you really did not want to let me leave. N-not that I want to blame you or anything! I am really really thankful that you did, or we would not have had this wonderful conversation!â
Listener: *question*
Speaker: âY-yes I am okay, just⌠getting a bit flustered again. I feel more at ease talking to you than to anyone else I ever knew, but⌠itâs still a lot of new things that I need to process. I can answer one more question though.â
Listener: *concern*
Speaker: âNo no, itâs fine really. I can see that you are still curious and whatâs the worst that could happen? Iâm already dead after all.â
Listener: *question*
Speaker: âHow did I⌠die?... HmmâŚâ
Listener: *apology*
Speaker: âOh no, itâs not insensitive or anything, donât worry. I just⌠donât remember. As I said before, many details about my life are fuzzy and unclear, but that memory⌠is just completely gone. Iâm sorry for not being able to answer your question⌠Umm⌠might I ask you a question in return? I think I have a pretty good understanding of your daily routine, and usually you would be in bed by now. What were you doing in the living room instead?â
Listener: *answer*
Speaker: âYou had to think about some stuff? What were you thinking about? I-if you are comfortable telling me of course! I have done my fair share of thinking, so maybe I can offer some⌠help.â
Listener: *answer*
Speaker: âItâs a bit of a longer story? Well, I am not going anywhere anytime soon, and I am a great listener, so feel free.â
Listener: *explains*
Speaker: âYou⌠confessed to someone today? Oh, they must be a lovely person for you to be interested in them. What did they say?â
Listener: *answers*
Speaker: âN-no? That person must have been blind and deaf! I mean, you are... umm⌠really⌠like, cool and good looking and funnyâŚâ *cough* âA-any way, did they say why?â
Listener: *answers*
Speaker: âThatâs not it? Then, if they also liked you, why did they stillâŚâ
Listener: *explains*
Speaker: âOh⌠I see⌠I guess I also wouldnât particularly like it if the one confessing to me was in love with someone else. But the way you told the story, they seem like someone really great. Even though they liked you, they still rejected you and even wished you luck with your actual crush⌠So the thing you had to think about was⌠what your crush means to you.â
Listener: *confirms*
Speaker: âI see⌠May I ask what kind of person they are? Maybe talking about it would help you better understand it yourself.â
Listener: *explains*
Speaker: âSo you see them every day⌠They are cute and a bit weird, but you like their antics⌠But you have never actually talked to them before?... Y-youâre not stalking them, are you?â
Listener: *denies*
Speaker: âOh good, good⌠Anyway, they sound absolutely lovely. I hope you manage to approach them soon and that you two work out.â
[Short pause]
Speaker: âWhy do you look so sad? Is something on your mind?â
Listener: *question*
Speaker: âDo I like anyone? W-why would you ask me that? M-me, h-having a crush, i-i-impossible! In the first place, you know I donât leave the house, right? H-how would I even f-find anyone to crush on?â *nervous laughter*
Listener: *reply*
Speaker: âMe, lying? N-never, what made you even think that? I am absolutely definitely perfectly fine. No problems whatsoever. But letâs talk about something else, something less ridiculous and completely untrue⌠How about? Oh yeah, earlier I was about to ask you why you never spoke to me before, even though you could see me.â
Listener: *answers*
Speaker: âYou were scared? Hehe, looks like my haunting managed to put a little bit of fear inside you after all. T-though I am of course sorry if I actually caused you any real distress.â
Listener: *reply*
Speaker: âIf thatâs not it, then what did you mean?â
Listener: *explains*
Speaker: âYou were⌠afraid that I would run away once I learned about it?... As much as I would like to deny that, I did indeed try to flee, so there is not much I can say in my defense⌠But what changed today? Why did you decide to finally talk to me?â
Listener: *answers*
Speaker: âBecause you made your mind up today to approach your⌠crush. B-but how do I come into the play?â
Listener: *answers*
Speaker: âI umm⌠c-could you maybe repeat that? It almost sounded like you said that I am-â
Listener: *repeats*
Speaker: âS-so I heard right the first time⌠Are you serious? You are in love⌠with me? But why?â
Listener: *explains*
Speaker: âC-cute⌠and funny? I-I guess you already explained that before, but⌠thatâs not the point! I am a ghost! How could you possibly fall in love with me, I am not even alive!â
Listener: *reply*
Speaker: âMaybe it doesnât matter to you now, but think about it. We can never marry. We canât eat anything together, or go out without you looking like a lunatic talking to yourself. You canât introduce me to your parents or friends. Everyone will think that you are either crazy or alone. We canât even touch-... Actually that problem seems to not be a problem anymore, but still!â
Listener: *reply*
Speaker: âYou⌠really donât care about that, do you? Fine, I guess I have to accept your passion at least.â
Listener: *question*
Speaker: âWhy did I only mention arguments why YOU should not be in love with ME? T-that is because, umm⌠I⌠need to go...â
Listener: *objects*
Speaker: âYouâŚâ *sigh* âYouâre right, I guess I do owe you a straight answer, since you gathered the courage to c-confess to me⌠I am⌠maybe⌠possibly⌠also in love with youâŚâ
Listener: *question*
Speaker: âR-red is a completely normal color for a ghost, and I am definitely not blushing!... So, what do we do now? We both confessed, so does that mean we are like⌠together?â
Listener: *question*
Speaker: âDo I want us to be? I mean⌠yesâŚâ
Listener: *reply*
Speaker: âIf we both want to, I guess that means we are then. So what do couples do?â
Listener: *question*
Speaker: âCuddle on the couch and r-read a book? I⌠ummâŚâ *sigh* âI donât have enough energy to be embarrassed anymore⌠Of course you heard that too. And I would love to. I bet it feels warm to be close to you, my sweet Living.â
