[Scene opens upon the exterior of fancy manor]

[SFX: Very soft, pacing steps/faint classic music]

[Unbeknownst to you, a familiar face stalks the outer walls of the manor]

“Let’s see, let’s see… What is the appropriate way to assassinate the love of your life?”

[Pause]

[He paces gracefully, though he never loses sight of you]

“Mmmh… I can’t make it too quick, that’d be such a letdown after all these years… I suppose I could wrap my hands around that pretty neck… Just hold you down while you look up at me, eyes full of primal fear, tears running free…”

[Pause]

“...No. No… Too long… Too slow.”

[SFX: Him continuing to pace]

“Bother, bother… What is the proper way to kill an angel that used to love you and then got snatched away by your terrible, older half-brother… Especially when said older brother has demanded you assassinate them…”

[Pause]

“...Oh, Mikail… All of this just to study their body. Stealing my lover, sending me off to study under the most ruthless assassins on the planet, and now this? You do love your drama, dearest brother. Truly, you do… Ah well. No time to dawdle on the bitterness of the past… I have an angel to murder.”

[He pauses for a moment and sighs]

“...my angel… to kill…”

[SFX: A door faintly opening and shutting]

“Wait… Mikail is there with them? What the hell does he think he’s doing, he’s going to ruin his own assassination contract!”

[Pause]

“They’re… arguing…? Hmph. Trouble in paradise. Exactly what you deserve, my dear…”

[Pause]

“...Why is he practically force-feeding them that potion? Mikail, you demanded I kill my ex-lover tonight, I don’t need them to be ‘softened up’... Believe that. I’ve spent years thinking about how I would reward them for their betrayal…”

[SFX: A very faint confrontation]

“...What is he doing…? Mikail, you fool, raising your hand to strike them-!”

[SFX: Glass shattering]

“Gods above! H-He just… knocked them back into the wall like they’re a paperweight… No. No, their life was MINE to take! And how DARE you lay a hand on the love you STOLE from me!”

[Perspective Shift: Listener]

[SFX: Broken glass tinkling/classical music with a slight distortion]

[You don’t know that Death is looming outside of your window. Only that you taste blood on your lips and your body twitches uncontrollably]

[SFX: Heavy footsteps stomping away/the door slamming and locking]

[...]

[You fade out for a moment…]

[SFX: The window opening and rushed footsteps coming your way]

“Dove!”

[P…Pause?]

[Arms are around you. Your ear is against a man’s chest, but you hear no heartbeat]

“Shh… I have you! It’s OK, now…”

[...?]

[The man tenses, hurt coursing through his veins]

“...Yes… It’s… It’s Nero, love… You remember…?”

[Pause!]

[He tenses further as you throw your arms around him and hold him as close as you can]

“...You’re sobbing, and… You’ve embraced me… W-What…? “

[Pause!]

“Mikail said I was… dead? No. No, sweetheart, I… I went to train under the Brothers Three. To become an assassin, after you said you didn’t wish to be with me anymore… Remember?”

[...?]

[You look at one another in confusion, anguish, and disbelief. Despite the icy expression on his face, tears are fighting to escape]

“You don’t remember this? Then ...you never betrayed me.”

[...]

“And I never died, no… Mik lied to me. Lied to us both!”

[His rage crumbles back into anguish]

“And Gods, look how he’s hurt you…”

[...]

[He bows his head and takes a deep breath]

“...What was that potion he forced into you…?”

[Pause]

“...The Oathbreaker’s potion? No… That bastard! That is what has kept you from fleeing for your poor little life… You are cursed to feel an undying loyalty to whoever gives you the drink… The very fact that you are aware of my presence yet do not cry out for him shows me everything I need to know that you are innocent… my poor, sweet Dove…”

[...]

[He takes a shaky breath, though it doesn’t seem like he needs to]

“...I c-can’t just… leave you here! He nearly KILLED you!”

[...]

[Tears spill down his face, at long last]

“Gods above, no! I c-can’t leave you! I won’t, no matter how strong he’s gotten!”

[...]

“...I know I was meant to kill you… I-I know… Oh, my poor Dove… Still so loyal and sweet, even after all this time… My poor baby!”

[He holds you and you hold him. You’re at an impossible impasse]

[Pause…]

“...I know what happens if I fail a contract… I die. But I have not lost my sharp wit, my sweet. I prepared for an instance where something like this happened.”

[Pause?]

[He takes another shaky breath, heartbroken]

“...I can kill you in a way that will bring you back… Mikail will believe you dead and have you buried. He won’t have you cremated… He still wishes to study your body once you pass, but if he tries, his throat will kiss my blade.”

[...?]

[He nods silently]

“Yes… I must turn you, my Dove. Into a vampire…”

[....?]

“...I do not know if an angel can become a vampire, dearest. I do not know… but it is the only solution. I… I refuse to erase you from this world when you are the only beauty left in it!”

[...]

“Here… Rest your forehead to mine…”

[You do]

“...Do you still trust me?”

[Pause.]

[He smiles sadly]

“Of course, you do… My first and only love… I promise it will only hurt for a moment, and I will be as gentle as I can. When you wake next, your bruises and cuts will be gone. You will be mine so strongly that Mikail won’t be able to pull you away. Alright?”

[Pause…]

“Good Dove. Relax, and do your best not to tense. Good… close your eyes…”

[You do]

[He moves closer with an admirable lack of hesitation, tongue pressing over your neck until a vein is coaxed upward]

“I need to run my tongue over your neck to coax a vein out, dearest… Tempting as it is, try not to squirm too much… Mmh… There we go.”

[P-Pause]

“...I love you, too, Dove. With all of me that is left and all of me that is gone. Now… Sleep.”

[He strikes and your body shudders, but you do your best to stay calm as he takes your life]

[SFX: The draining/VAs discretion]

[He holds you as you fade away, protective and heartbroken. You take his hand in your final moments as an angel and he answers with a gentle squeeze and one final, raspy:]

“I’ll see you soon.”

[With that, you die…]
