[You’re currently playing around online, watching some people casually destroy your self-esteem over a selfie]

[SFX: A litany of notification noises]

[Pause…]

[It’s a bit hard to stomach getting slapped around over a picture. You’re about to delete it when you see a DM flash on the screen]

[SFX: A DM notification/the Listener clicking on it]

[The message reads:]

Hey, so, I hope I’m not being a DM creep, but I wanted to reach out cause it seemed like you were going through a hard time over that silly picture. I don’t know why people are dragging you just for looking pretty, but I’m sorry… I hope you know you’re gorgeous (not trying to be creepy, I promise).

[Pause…?]

[Before you can answer, another message follows:]

Don’t listen to them. I think you’re beautiful.

[Pause…?]

[SFX: Typing]

[Note: VA can use discretion on how often typing/messenger noises are used throughout the conversation]

[You answer the DM and see the kind stranger typing back almost immediately]

I do really think that. I don’t speak up a lot, but I think you’re honestly gorgeous. Any time I see you in class, I think I make a bad habit of staring… Sorry about that, by the way, if you’ve ever noticed me doing it. Or… noticed me at all…

[Pause?]

Oh, don’t worry about it if you haven’t. I tend to blend into the background really easily.

[Pause?]

My name? Well, most people just call me Specs.

[Pause <3]

Hehe… I’m glad you think guys with glasses are cute. I’m pretty shy, so, I’m sorry if I’ve bothered you at all. I just noticed you were getting picked on, and… I had to say something. Don’t let those assholes get you down, OK? They’re the kind of people that go on some social site later to ask internet strangers if they’re in the wrong for getting someone’s wedding canceled. You know the type, I’m sure.

Yeah, they can be pretty fast, with the right requests. Especially if they know that they managed to get their best customer aka the local loser a date with someone as pretty as you <3

[You kick back for a bit until you hear the doorbell ring from downstairs]

[Long Pause - Fill in with SFX: Typing/VA’s discretion]

[SFX: A faint doorbell/the Listener retrieving the pizza and walking back upstairs]

[The doorbell rings and you run downstairs to grab the pizza from the doorstep before heading back upstairs]

[SFX: The box being set aside/typing]

[You set the box down and type a quick message to him. He responds quite fast]

[Pause]

Pizza’s there? Great! I hope it cheers you up.

[Pause?]

Yeah, I’m just about ready. Sorry, I’m just really nervous! I really, really want you to like me so aaahhh, I’m freaking out a little

[Pause]

[SFX: Typing]

[You assure him that he’s already made a good first impression and take a bite of pizza]

I’ve already made a good impression? Oh, that makes me super happy <3 You’re super cute when you eat by the way~

[...Pause?]

How did I know you were eating? Just guessed. Could I ask a favor?

[Pause…?]

No, I know you asked how I know what you look like eating, not how I knew you were. Hold still for a sec, please.

[SFX: A phone camera and flash]

[You freeze, more out of confusion than obedience, when you see a pale hand in your peripheral vision holding a phone. The flash goes off and, seconds later, you realize-]

“Cheese…!”

[...]

[He’s right behind you, voice silken and a touch malicious]

“Ooh, that was a good one… Let me send it to you, sweetheart…”

[SFX: Phone typing/the message received blip]

[Pause…]

[The picture pops into your chat window. Of you staring horrified while the stranger poses more candidly behind you]

“...So… What do you think? I really like our first pic as a couple! Look at how wide your eyes are in delight!”

[...]

“Sweetie…? Did I surprise you a little too well? Ooh, your poor shoulders are so tense! Here… Let me rub your shoulders…”

[He does so and the subtle strength tells you that he could easily harm you if he desired]

[P-Pause…]

“Mmh, shh… How did I get in here without you noticing? Oh, sweetheart, I’ve been here all along… I just couldn’t ‘really’ be here until you invited me in. If I knew the answer was basic kindness and some pizza, I’d have tried that from day one!”

[...]

[He reaches down and cups your chin, tilting your head up slightly]

“Here, look up at me…”

[You do. He smiles a very inhuman smile]

“Hi, cutie… What do you think?”

[...??]

“What am I? Haha… You humans do always need to understand things, don’t you? Come here, I’m just gonna squish your face a little, and you can eat pizza right out of my hand… Like that! There you go… Ohhh, that’s so cute, I can hardly take it! Oh, I just want to *rip someone’s throat out it’s so fucking CUTE*!”

[He feeds you pizza. You can’t do a lot about it, considering… he’s not human]

“I guess if you need some definition… I’m like… a shadow… boy. Yep. Just a shadow boy that likes to watch you from my dimension… That’s why you didn’t remember me, you know? I don’t really go to your school, I mean, I DO go to your school, but for you purposes, not academia. Heh. The amount they charge you silly goobers just to ‘learn things’, woo! So cute…”

[Pause…]

“You let me in~”.

[He sounds so intensely pleased at this little discovery]

“And now you’re mine, always and truly, and I’ll be able to love you and look at you and do things with you that no one else can do, and I’m just… I’m really so happy for us, you know? You and I is my favorite ship!”

[...]

“Oh, honey, no. You eat your pizza, OK? Like a good pet… We can worry about the rest later.”

[Pause!]

[His other hand falls gently around your throat, quickly silencing any panic or protest]

“Shh… Don’t make me squeeze your throat any harder, OK?”

[...]

“Hmhm, OK, love you, sweetpea~”.

[He keeps feeding you. You can never really see his face or features as the only light is from your computer. You’re alone in the dark, even with him there. Helpless…]
