[Scene opens in your home]

[SFX: A muffled argument followed by glass shattering]

[You’re resting in bed when your senses are shaken by a muffled argument. Something glass shatters and you sit up with a gasp]

[B] “-the FUCK do you think you were doing in their bed?!”

[L] “Olly, PLEASE just listen to me! It wasn’t anything wrong or inappropriate, I promise!”

[B] “You were in. Their. Bed. Arms wrapped around them, snoring away… How else am I meant to interpret this, Leo?!”

[SFX: Hurried footsteps]

[You hurry downstairs and see your brother and Leo arguing violently. Hands are about to be thrown]

[Pause!]

[B] “Go back upstairs. No, in fact, call the cops. This fucking pervert was in your bed just… doing whatever it was he was doing!”

[Pause!!]

[B] “...What do you mean you wanted him there?”

[L] “That’s what I’m trying to tell you, Olly! It was just friendly cuddling, that’s it. I just missed my friend... That’s all. I fell asleep, like an idiot, yes, but you know me. You know I’d never touch them or… Jesus, I can’t even bring myself to say it, but you know I would never, ever do harm to them!”

[Pause…]

[B] “...I’m going to fucking kill you.”

[L] “Olly, hey-!”

[Your brother lunges for Leo, wrapping his hands around his neck and squeezing for all its worth]

[SFX: A struggle/Leo being choked]

[Pause!!!!!]

[You scream for them to stop but Leo’s beginning to turn blue]

[Pause!!!]

[B] “I don’t care if he’s turning blue! He deserves it! He fucking DESERVES it!”

[You try and grab your brother away but he shoves you, and hard]

[B] “Godamnit, I’m trying to protect you, get OFF!”

[SFX: Steps slipping/glass shattering]

[You stumble back, losing your balance and falling straight through the coffee table]

[B] “O-Oh shi-!”

[L] “Hrghh, you fucking MANIAC! YOU HURT THEM!”

[SFX: Leo knocking your brother on his ass and hurrying to your side]

[B] “HEUGH-!”

[L] “What you FUCKING GET! H-Hang on, sweetheart! Hang on… H-Here, nngh, gimme your hand…”

[P-Pause]

[You shakily take Leo’s hand, wincing as the broken glass falls free. He looks you over, shaken]

[L] “Oh, sweetheart… You’re a-all cut up…”

[B, desperate] “N-No, it was a, nngh, accident!”

[Leo turns to him, furious]

[L] “You… You hurt them… You shoved them and they fell through the damned coffee table after you nearly choked me out! What i-is wrong with you?! Look at them, Olly! They’re terrified!”

[Your brother looks to you, wild-eyed. You instinctively hide behind Leo]

[P-Pause]

[B] “...N-No, I… I was trying to protect you! He only wants one thing from you, just like what happened last time with Sid! All he’s going to do is get what he wants and then he’s going to break your heart!”

[L, in disbelief] “...Olly…”

[B] “Don’t you fucking ‘Olly’, me! You were in their bed, all cuddled up! You think I don’t know what that means?!”

[L, enraged] “It means I missed my friend and wanted to cuddle for a bit!! Jesus, people CAN cuddle without it turning hot and heavy! That is something that can happen, you know?!”

[B] “Oh, OK, surrreee… I know what you want, Leo, and it’s disgusting. You’ve wanted it for years… and I can see that hunger in your eyes. Makes my skin crawl!”

[Pause!]

[Both of them go silent as you finally speak up]

[B] “...What…?”

[Pause]

[Your brother’s expression goes ice cold]

[B] “No, you do NOT love him. You just… You think you know what you want, but Sid pulled this same act, and you nearly fell for it! You didn’t love Sid and you don’t love Leo!”

[...]

[L] “I love them, too.”

[Pause…]

[B] “You? ...How long has this been going on?”

[Pause!!]

[L] “For the love of God, Olly, it HASN’T! I cuddled with them last night, we discussed our feelings, decided to stay apart for your sake, and that’s it! That’s all! I had planned on waking up early, sneaking to the couch, and never speaking of this again so you didn’t have to freak out, just like this!”

[Your brother looks between you both, totally unreadable, before he utters a quiet:]

[B] “...Get out. Both of you.”

[Pause?]

[B] “No, you aren’t welcome back. Get the shit that matters most to you, because everything else is going in the garbage.”

[Pause!]

[L] “Now hold on a damned minute, Olly-!”

[B] “I don’t want to hear it… If you want to date him, then you can be his problem. I don’t want to hear it when he breaks your heart, though. Don’t come crawling back to me… Just raised you, no fucking big deal, can’t even listen to your own brother for once…”

[...]

[L, terse] “...C’mon, sweetheart… Get what you need and let’s go… Olly, you throw anything of theirs out, and I’ll tell the bossman who emptied the godamned grease trap at work. Understand?”

[B, equally terse] “Fine. Just… Just leave…”

[SFX: Dazed footsteps and packing]

[Leo hovers over you as you grab your things, rubbing his throat on occasion]

[...pause]

[L] “Don’t apologize… If he’s capable of doing this to me, I’d rather die than have you here alone with him anyway. I got a spare room, it’ll be OK…”

[...]

[Leo swears under his breath as you tear up and gently hugs you]

[L] “Don’t cry… Ol’ Leo’s got you, alright? You can decorate the room however you want and… and we’ll get some pizza and make a night of it, OK? I’ll bring my truck and get the rest of your stuff, don’t worry…”

[...]

[SFX: A car door opening and closing]

[Leo gets you settled in his truck, expression grim]

[L] “...Buckled up?”

[Pause…]

[L] “Good. Got pants on?”

[Pause?]

[L] “Good, cause the fucker kicked me out in my boxers, which is going to make any drive-thru scenarios real damned awkward. As long as one of us has pants, I think we’re OK.”

[SFX: The truck starting and heading off]

[...]

[L] “...We’ll be OK, sweetheart… First and foremost, taking you to a doctor… That was a lot of broken glass.”

[...]

[He sighs and you can tell he’s heartbroken]

[L] “...I know you’ve never seen him like that before… Me either. But we gotta take care of us before we try and help him, OK?”

[Pause]

[L] “That’s my sweetheart. C’mon, let’s get this over with. Then, I’m gonna get you home, get you blitzed, and we’re gonna play video games together all day. Sound good?”

[Pause <3]

[L] “Good… I could use a break between having to think about all the shit that just happened. A break just to enjoy you being here… Hope you’ll give me that.”

[Pause <3]

[L] “Good… Good.”

[He drives on in silence, neck wrung in bruises and eyes thoughtful. You try not to think about all the cuts you’ve obtained as the day ambles on…]
