Notes: This script is okay for monetization. Can be used on Patreon, just let me know if you do. If you use it, please give credit. You can change pronouns if preferred but otherwise please don't edit the script. My scripts are meant for adult audiences and all characters are 18 . For clarification on the format of the script, any place that says (Pause) is a place for the Listener's response. Anything in \asterisks and italics** isn't meant to be read aloud, it's there to either hint at the tone or provide context that might help the script make more sense.
Summary: After Narrator accidentally tricks someone into thinking their going out with Listener, Listener decides that they're had enough. They march into a party at Narrator's house ready to raise hell about how Narrator's only pretending to have feelings for them, but they find out that Narrator's feelings are very real.
Word Count: Approximately 1,566 words (Not including any actions or cues left in asterisks and italics)
Writer’s Notes: Alright, last time I wrote a sorta red-flag character like this, someone compared my writing to that one Colleen Hoover book that I despised. If it happens again, I'm gonna drink and cry twice as much as I usually do. Also, I used they/them pronouns throughout the script for various characters, feel free to adjust as needed. Other than that, enjoy!
Script Below:
\The house party is louder than Listener would prefer, the sounds of blaring music and people talking making it hard to find who they're looking for. They walk through the crowds of people, on the hunt for the source of their current frustration. After finally getting through the living room, they finally hear a familiar voice coming from the next room over. **
\Physically distant, cold/cocky attitude** “Yeah, I don’t know why they even tried gunning for my spot. Seriously, it was probably the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen (them ever do, which is impressive considering how much stupid shit they do. And they was talking so much shit before the season started, it was so fucking funny. You can’t compete where you don’t compare, you know?”
\Narrator laughs with their friends as Listener continues to walk closer to them.**
“I know, right? Like, how many times do I have to prove I’m the best before everyone realizes that they’re not gonna beat me? Seriously. I was the best all through grade school, I was the best through high school, and I’m the best now. There’s absolutely no way that anyone-”
\Listener casually taps on Narrator’s shoulder. Narrator scoffs rudely.**
“Okay, whoever just touched me better realize their mistake and walk away. I’m in a good mood tonight so I’ll let you get away with it this time, but it won’t happen again.”
\Listener taps them again, with more force.**
“Feeling brave, huh? Seriously, you have one last chance to get lost before I make you regret trying anything. I’m not saying it for a third time.”
\Listener pushes at Narrator’s shoulder, just a bit rougher. Narrator laughs coldly.**
“Alright, who in the hell do you think-”
\Narrator sees Listener and their attitude changes completely. They smile as Listener, giddy to see them.**
\Lovestruck** "Oh, it's you! You're actually here! I didn’t think you were gonna come."
\Narrator laughs bashfully.**
“So are you enjoying the party?”
(Pause)
\Confused** “Uh, wait, then why are you here? I-I mean, of course I’m really happy to see you, but if you’re not here for the party, then what are you here for?”
(Pause)
\Delighted** “Really? You mean that? You wanted to see me? I mean, I’m always available when it comes to you. So, what did you want to see me for?”
(Pause)
\Hesitant** “Hey, you look kinda mad. Are you mad at me?”
(Pause)
“Is it about the things I was saying? I’m sorry about that. I never would’ve said those kinds of things if I knew it was you, baby.”
(Pause)
“Are you sure it’s alright? You look really mad.”
(Pause)
“Sure, of course. Do you want to talk here, or would it be better if we were alone?”
(Pause)
“Yeah, totally. I can make that happen.”
\Narrator turns back to the friends they’ve been talking to.**
\Cold, rude** “Hey. Get lost.”
(Pause)
“Yeah, I’m serious. They want to talk to me, and I want to talk to them, so go inside or something.”
\Narrator’s friends walk away, leaving just Narrator and Listener.**
\Sweet** “So, what’s up? What is it you wanted to talk about?”
(Pause)
“Hey, um, you still look kinda mad. Is something wrong?”
(Pause)
\Protective** “No one’s been bugging you, have they? I told everyone that they’re not allowed to get too close to you, so they better not have tried anything. I swear, if any of them so much as thought of making a move on you, I’m gonna tear their head off.”
(Pause)
“No? Oh, good. That’s good. So then who are you mad at?”
(Pause)
\Surprised, a bit sad** “Me?! But why are you mad at me? What did I do wrong?”
(Pause)
“What do you mean? I’d never do anything that would make you unhappy. At least, I’d never do it on purpose. Maybe someone else did it and you’re mad at them?”
(Pause)
"You’re really mad at me? But what did I do? I swear that whatever it is, I didn't mean to!"
(Pause)
“‘Talking about you?’ Well of course I’ve been talking about you, baby. You’re one of my favorite things to talk about.”
(Pause)
“Sure, I like talking about myself, but I like talking about you even more. You know what I like talking about even more than that? Talking about us, together. You know, as like a um…”
\Narrator laughs bashfully. Listener cuts them off.**
\Disappointed** “Oh, maybe some other time then. So what is it that you were gonna say?”
(Pause)
\Flirty** “Oh yeah? What was I saying about you?”
(Pause)
\Cold (not towards Listener)** “Oh. You mean what I said when I was talking to them.”
(Pause)
“Yeah, I know what you’re talking about, but why are you so mad? It’s not like I did anything to them..”
(Pause)
“No, I didn’t. I just told them that you weren’t interested, and that they should stay away from you, if they know what’s good for them.”
(Pause)
“Is that such a bad thing? You already said that you weren’t interested in dating them, so I just let them know. I didn’t lie or anything. Unless… you actually do want to date them. Oh, baby, please tell me that’s not true. Tell me you don’t want to date that loser.”
(Pause)
“Then what’s the problem? If you don’t want to date them, why is it so bad that I scared them off.”
(Pause)
\Excited** “Wait, really? When you say ‘together,’ you mean dating right? They think we’re dating?”
\Narrator laughs excitedly. Listener scolds them.**
“Sorry, sorry, I just got a bit excited there.”
(Pause)
“I mean, is that really such a bad thing? Would it really be so bad for people to think that we’re together?”
(Pause)
“Uh, no? Actually, I’m pretty happy that people think that you and I are dating. I think it’s pretty obvious by now, but I’m more than a little into you.”
(Pause)
“Wait, what do you mean? Is there someone else? Someone who isn’t me?”
(Pause)
\Hopeful** “You mean it? You’re not interested in anyone else?”
(Pause)
“Then why don’t you want to date me?”
(Pause)
\Hurt** “Why are you laughing? Is that really such a stupid question?”
(Pause)
“Yeah, I’m being serious. Why is dating me such a ridiculous idea? Do you hate me that much?”
(Pause)
“Joking? About what, what would I be joking about?”
(Pause)
\Bewildered** “That I’m just-?! Why would I be joking about wanting to be with you? That doesn’t even make any sense! There wouldn’t be any point!”
(Pause)
“Well why would I be joking about that? What reason could I possibly have to pretend to have a stupidly huge crush on you? Seriously, that’s cruel even by my standards!”
\Listener points out that Narrator is mean to everyone else, so would they be nice to Listener unless they’re planning to make fun of Listener. Narrator sighs, troubled but understanding.**
“I mean, yeah, I get what you're saying, but that’s because those other people don’t deserve it. They don’t deserve me being nice to them. You do.”
(Pause)
“Because you’re… Well, you’re a lot of things. You’re ambitious, you fight for what you want, and you don’t let anyone or anything drag you down.”
\Narrator chuckles softly.**
“Do you remember when we first met and I tried to intimidate you into giving me your number? I was going to bully you into making you do my homework, but you turned around and told me that I could go fuck myself. I was so shocked that I asked you out instead. You just rolled your eyes and walked away, and I stared at you until I couldn’t see you anymore. I went home that night and just laid in bed with the stupidest smile because I’d fallen in love.”
(Pause)
\Fond, some dry humor** “Yeah, love. I love you. Have for a pretty long time now, actually. Figured you would have noticed by now, you know, what with all the love letters and baked goods and all the other stuff.”
(Pause)
“What, do you still not believe me? Do you still think I’m just trying to pull some sort of sick prank on you?”
\Listener says nothing and glares. Narrator sighs, a bit saddened by their cold attitude, but takes a couple steps closer.**
\Gentle, pleading** “C’mon baby. You know me better than that. I know you do. Yeah, I may be an asshole, but you know that I’d never do something like that. I’m not the type to hide how I feel about someone, no matter what I feel about them. Even when it comes to you - Hell, especially when it comes to you. I never even had a chance of hiding my love from you, baby.”
(Pause)
“Of course not. Have you seen how stupid I get whenever you walk into the room? It’s like my brain just melts and I forget how to talk to you without babbling like the stupid, lovesick fool I am. It’s awful.”
\Narrator starts to laugh but the laughter trails off when they notice Listener’s expression.”*
\Hesitant** “Uh, Are… Are you still mad at me? I can’t tell what you’re thinking about and you look kinda mad.”
\Listener grabs Narrator by the shirt, making them sputter nervously.**
\Surprised** “Uh, wait, why are you grabbing my shirt?”
\Narrator sighs reluctantly.**
“Listen, if you really still think I’m playing prank, and you hate me because of it then-”
\Listener suddenly pulls Narrator closer and kisses them.**
\Shocked** “Huh? You-You kissed me?”
(Pause)
“But why? Why would you do that, why did you kiss me?
(Pause)
“You want me to… Yeah, I can do that. I can prove it.”
\Narrator and Listener kiss a few times..**
\A bit breathless, hopeful** “Did I do good? Was that what you wanted?”
(Pause)
“More? Yeah, of course, we can kiss some more.”
\Listener and Narrator kiss for a while longer.**
“So, do you believe me now? Do you believe me when I say that I love you?”
(Pause)
\Baffled, kinda upset** “What? Why not?”
(Pause)
“Well then what’s it gonna take?”
(Pause)
\Surprised** “A date? You mean, with me?”
(Pause)
“Uh, yeah! Yeah, absolutely, I’d love to go on a date with you.”
(Pause)
“Well, maybe we could take my truck to the drive-in theater sometime this weekend? If you want to?”
(Pause)
“Yeah, you’d like that?”
(Pause)
“Oh, yeah, of course! What is it?”
\Listener kisses Narrator again.**
“Huh? What was that for?”
(Pause)
“‘One to tide me over?’ So, then are we gonna do this more on our date?”
(Pause)
“Careful baby, you’re gonna make me melt all over again when you talk like that.”
\Narrator chuckles.**
“So, you gonna hang out here for a while? I’ve always wanted to see you at one of my parties.”
(Pause)
\Disappointed** “But you just got here a little while ago. C’mon, you don’t have to go so soon, baby. Spend some more time with me? Please?”
(Pause)
“Aw, please baby? I promise you won’t be spoiling me too much. I promise I’ll be good, too. Won’t pick any fights or start anything.”
\Listener says no, making Narrator pout.**
“Ugh, fine. Then I guess I’ll see you this weekend?”
(Pause)
“I can’t wait. And I promise I’ll bring those cookies.”
\Listener kisses Narrator one last time. Narrator laughs happily.**
“Alright, maybe you are spoiling me too much. At this rate, I’m gonna just follow you home like a lost little stray. You better head out before I lose too much of my brain and start clinging to you.”
(Pause)
“I’ll see you this weekend then. I can’t wait.”
\Narrator chuckles as the audio fades out.**
