“Wait! No, don’t–!”

“Wh-what are you doing here?! The library is closed!”

“You… you lost your jacket?”

“Ah… I–I see, um…”

[pause]

“I’m not hiding anything behind my back! I–It’s just– I did a sweep of the library earlier, and didn’t find anything, s-so you should go check in the office!”

[pause]

“You already checked the lost and found bin there?”

“U–Um… w-well I guess I should check in the bin here in the library! Y–You know, I might have missed it!”

[he ducks under the desk and rummages through the box]

“Keychains, other coats, ugh, whoever left this shoe here smells nasty… Aha!”

[he pops back up]

“Here! This is your jacket, right?”

[pause]

“I told you, I–I wasn’t hiding it! See? I gave it back to you!”

[rustling]

[pause]

“... What do you mean ‘who am I’?”

“I–I work here! I’m an assistant to the librarian! Y–you see me all the time!”

“Ugh… okay, m–maybe it’s better just to show you…”

“M–Miss Lisa said it was okay for me to stay in my cat form while I work! I–I’m much more comfy as a cat… I don’t have to t-talk, so I don’t need to be scared about stumbling over my words…”

(muttering) “It didn’t even cross my mind that… people thought I was actually just a cat… an unusually smart cat, but…”

[he groans, burying his face in his hands]

“I… I just got used to it… I’m sorry…”

“But–! I stole– no– I slept on your jacket and got my cat hair all over it! A–And I slept in your lap while in cat form, when I’m really a catboy, and there was that one time when my claw got caught on your uniform and I accidentally tore a hole in it, and– I just revealed that I have feelings for you, and–!”

[you grab his hand]
