[Scene opens in an intense battle between Villain and Hero]

[SFX: A battle taking place]

[A battle between a Villain and Hero takes place atop the rooftops]

[H] “Gahh! Nngh! Gotta admit, Crimson, that Killstick of yours packs a punch!”

[V] “Ha! You haven’t seen anything yet! I hope you didn’t have any plans tonight, Hero, because you’re about to meet your end!”

[SFX: The Killstick charging]

[H] “Nngh…Can… Can I at least call my girlfriend and tell her that I won’t be home for Valentine’s Day…? I promised her I’d come home to her as soon as I was done with you, but it looks like this is it for…”

[He pauses mid-dramatic farewell]

[H] “Wait. Crimson, what the fuck are YOU doing out here on Valentine’s Day? Don’t you have plans with Minxy?”

[SFX: The Killstick continuing to charge]

[V] “HA! My beloved darling told me not to worry about Valentine’s Day this year! They knew that tonight would be the night I finally ended you, my annoying, heroic arch-nemesis! So how’s about you stop lying there sniveling and DIE!”

[SFX: The Killstick almost being ready to fire]

[Pause]

[The Hero pauses, giving him one Hell of a look]

[H] “Dude, are you serious?”

[V, with a pause] “What do you mean…?”

[H] “When your partner says, ‘Don’t worry about Valentine’s Day’, like that, it means that they’re hoping you’ll pull out something really nice and fancy to show your appreciation!”

[Pause]

[V] “What? No… That’s not true. That can’t be true! Why would they say something that they didn’t mean like that?”

[The Hero looks at your partner in absolute disbelief]

[H] “I’m sorry… you can reprogram a fucking rocket while it is in MID-FLIGHT, but you can’t figure out when someone is trying to give you some clues? Nuh uh, jackass. I know Minx. Minx has been putting up with your shit for YEARS now! Being late for dates, completely forgetting birthdays, even nearly getting them killed! Minxy LOVES you, Crimson, the least you could do is pretend like you give a shit!”

[SFX: The hum of the charge dying down]

[The Villain stops the charge in his weapon, looking at his opponent uncertainly]

[V] “...Minxy knows I love them. They know how important this victory is to me, you’re my arch-nemesis, for fuck’s sake! Valentine’s Day happens every single year! Finally defeating your arch-nemesis is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!”

[H] “...you’re a fucking idiot, Crimson. Not only that, but you’re one of the most selfish men I think I’ve ever run into in my entire life.”

[V] “Hey! You don’t know Minxy like I do! They always tell me when something is wrong!”

[Pause]

[H] “How often is something wrong, Crimson?”

[V] “...I-... No. No! You’re just trying to twist me up! You’re dying tonight, hero!”

[Pause]

[H, folding his arms] “You’ve got portal powers, my guy. Go ahead. Poke your head in on your partner and prove me wrong. I’ll wait.”

[V] “...Fine.”

[SFX: Portal sounds]

[You pause as a portal opens and your partner sticks his head in]

[V] “Minxy! Hi, honey, how’s your day going?”

[...]

[V] “Oh, your eyes… Honey bunny, have you been crying…?”

[...]

[V] “...Sweetie, you… you have a suitcase…”

[Pause]

[V] “Y-You’re leaving…? Wait, wait, wait, sweetheart! No, no, no, no, please! Minxy, you know I love you more than anyone or anything on this planet!”

[Pause]

[V] “E-Except for my arch-nemesis? No, you know that’s not true! This is a big moment for me, yes, but it’s all so I can come home and celebrate with you! Once the battle is finally over-!”

[Pause]

[V] “No! I won’t just get another arch-nemesis! Minxy, I-! Did…did you scatter rose petals all over the bed?”

[Pause!]

[V] “...I… have fucked up immensely.”

[Though it’s faint, you can hear the Hero yell:]

[H] “Told you so, you dumbass! Minxy, if you can hear this, I’m really sorry, I figured he’d planned something on a different date! I’d have brought his dumbass home if I’d known!”

[Pause]

[V] “How do you know I don’t have something planned for another day?! I have something AMAZING planned for Saturday!”

[...?]

[V] “I do, darling! I promise I do! And it’s going to be gorgeous and worthy of someone as perfect and loving as you! I’m sorry I didn’t tell you I had something planned, I should have! But it will be so sweet and perfect and it’ll be everything you deserve, and then some!”

[...?]

[He hesitates]

[V] “Will… I stop the fight and come home, now? I… B-But I have him cornered, darling! I’m so close to winning, at long last!”

[...]

[V] “...Minxy?”

[...]

[V] “I promise, as soon as this is done, I’ll come home, and we can enjoy the night together, alright? And then, in four days, I will give you a token of my love that will be SO POWERFUL, that you’ll never doubt my love for you, ever again! O-OK?”

[...]

[V] “Honey bunny… Please, you know how much this moment means to me. If it were any other day than Valentine’s Day, would it really matter?”

[........]

[H, faintly and in disbelief] “...Dude...”

[V] “What? The portal makes it hard to hear, Hero! I have to go, sweetpea, I’ll see you soon, OK? I love you!”

[...]

[SFX: The portal closing]

[Your partner steps out of the portal and aims the weapon back at the Hero]

[V] Ha! Now, let’s finish this little game!”

[H] “No. You know what? That display right there just reminded me of how much I love my partner, and how absolutely fucking stupid it is that I’m out here, fighting you, instead of spending today with her. I’m going home.”

[SFX: A call being made]

[V] “Excuse you?! I’m not going to just let you fly off! Hey! We’re in the middle of a fight, why are you making a call?!”

[The Hero holds up one finger to him]

[H] “Hang on. Hey, baby! Hey… Yeah, no, I just wanted to call and tell you I’m on my way home now, OK?”

[Pause?]

[He glares at the Villain]

[H] “No… I just got a wake-up call. You’re more important than any of this bullshit. Love you, OK? I’ll be home soon.”

[SFX: The call ending]

[V] “I beg your pardon, what makes you think I’m just going to let you get away?!”

[SFX: The Hero rising in the air]

[H] “We both know you can’t hit a moving target, Crimmy. Go home, and try and fix things before you lose the love of your life. You fucking clod.”

[SFX: The Hero zipping off/maybe one shot from the Killstick]

[V] “Rrgh, CURSE MY WEAK FPS SKILLS! I’LL GET YOU NEXT TIME!”

[H, fading] “Go home!”

[The Hero zips off]

[V] “...Hmph. I’ll get you next time, Angel. I promise you that… But, for now, I do need to get back to my perfect Minxy.”

[SFX: Portal noises]

[V] “Darling? Darling, I’m home! He got away but that’s fine, there’s always next…time…?”

[SFX: A very ominous silence]

[V] “...Minxy? W-Where have you gone, darling? I was only gone a moment!”

[His voice echoes across the now empty room. The now empty lair]

[V] “...Minxy…?”

[You’re long gone]
