Context: Legend had it that the Moon goddess's most loyal lover was a man that could turn into a wolf. Those are simply legends, however, as no man that could comprehend the Alpha werewolf that has lived for thousands of years, destroyed civilizations, and turned the tides of wars with his mere presence. He is a living legend that almost all fear. But... you know him better than most. He's your mate, after all, and protects you and your children at all costs. At... all costs.

[Scene opens in a ruined village]

[SFX: Chains rattling/faint, enraged howling]

[You are tied to a post in the middle of a ruined village. It is only you and the Hunter that stole you]

[H] “I’m sorry to have to do this… The Demon has to be brought down, one way or another, and taking you is the only way to get his attention.”

[...]

[The Hunter snarls under his breath]

[H] “YOU may say he’s a good man, a good mate, even a good father, but look around you! Look at the remnants of this village! Of MY village!”

[SFX: Wood creaking/crumpling to the ground]

[H] “Listen to me, woman, and listen well: whatever name you call him, whatever sweet lies he’s whispered in your ear, there is a REASON that we call him ‘Demon’. He’s left us in ruins for hundreds of years… How can you even willingly be in his arms when he’s the most genocidal creature alive?!”

[Pause]

[The Hunter takes a shaky breath]

[H] “...You seem like a kind, gentle woman. I hate having to have you strung up in the middle of what remains of my home, but you… you must understand, you HAVE to understand that he is a monster! My sources said even you ran away from him once! Hasn’t he hurt you?”

[...]

[H] “I have seen him… tear through castle walls. Castle walls, built to withstand trebuchets and sieges of Barbarians, or worse, with nothing but his claws! I have seen his howl cause grown men to abandon their children to flee! I have seen the priests pray to gods just for the Demon to be put down! This isn’t about him being a werewolf, this isn’t about him being the oldest living werewolf, this is about the destruction he causes whenever something doesn’t please him! Please… please, understand…”

[SFX: Distant, furious howling]

[H] “He’s almost here… God, look at the destruction… He’s cleaving through the forest with that same bestial disregard for anything living within! Rrgh, it has to be done. It has to!”

[SFX: Trees cracking and toppling in the distance]

[D] ANGEL?! M…Y … ANGEL!!

[SFX: Enraged howling and more trees being clawed in two]

[Pause!!]

[H] “Quiet! I want him to know where you are, but not to charge in here blindly and accidentally kill us both!”

[D] RARRGH, ANGEL!!!!

[SFX: A massive boulder being hurled and crashing into the ground nearby]

[...]

[The Hunter stares at you with grim determination]

[H] “I know I can’t triumph against him… No man can triumph against a force of nature. I’m simply hoping the traps I set will at least wind him. I don’t know how true the legends are, but if he really was once the lover of the moon goddess, then maybe it is by her design. And, if so… she’s as much of a tyrant as he is.”

[...]

[H, pained] “I can’t let you go. Please, do not hold this against me… I have to do this for the sake of humanity.”

[SFX: Water hissing]

[He takes a breath and takes the branding iron, the metal still red hot]

[H] “I… would never want to brand anyone. In any other instance, I swear to you, I wouldn’t hurt an innocent person like this! But… It’s the only way the spell will work.”

[...]

[D] ANGEL!!!

[SFX: More absolute carnage and chaos/birds scattering/wildlife fleeing]

[H] “...I’m sorry.”

[SFX: The brand hissing and the Listener thrashing in pain]

[Pause!!!]

[SFX: Faint, violent howling]

[D] ANGEL!!!!

[You remain affixed to the pole, burned and bruised for your endeavors. The ground trembles as your Alpha storms out on all fours, eyes blazing with crimson fire. His iron-clad claws drag across the ground]

[SFX: Metal scraping against cobblestone]

[Pause!]

[D] “You…”

[The Hunter stands firm, but you can see the poor boy trembling]

[H] “Yes. Me.”

[Your mate snarls, voice rattling the broken glass of the village. The moon above changes from a pale yellow to a blood red. The Hunter looks up at the moon and pales]

[H] “The moon bleeds… it is true…”

[D, through grit teeth] “My. Angel.”

[...]

[The Hunter steps to the side, steady as one can be]

[H] “She’s here. Here, have her.”

[Your mate storms forward and damned near rips the pole from the ground]

[D] “Hold… still… Rrgh… feral… don’t want to… hurt you…”

[Pause]

[With another snarl, he slams his teeth down on the pole and your chains, freeing you]

[SFX: Wood shattering and chains snapping]

[D] “Rrr…an…gel! Here… Here, to me…”

[He pats his chest a few times and you shakily walk and fall into his arms, trembling and coughing. He calms the moment you embrace, though he’s still radiating rage]

[D] “My ang…el…Angel… I’m here… You feel so small… So weak… I’m so sorry I wasn’t here faster, whatever poison I was stuck with actually managed to slow me down. Briefly. It doesn’t matter. I’m bringing you home. The kids are worried sick…”

[...]

[He pauses, pulling you slightly away from him]

[D] “...Angel…? That cough…”

[...]

[H, wheezing] “She’s dying, wolf… and she won’t stop until I say so… You kill me, she dies.”

[You hear your mate snarl violently, muscles tensing in fury as he rises to his full height]

[D] “... What did you do to my sweet, innocent mate?!”

[...]

[His voice eases, soothing and gentle, just for you]

[D] “Shh, no no no no… it’s alright. It’s going to be OK, my love, I swear it! I have you… There you go… Let me rub your back, it’s-”.

[His fingers trace your back and you howl in pain as he touches the brand]

[Pause!!!]

[D] “Angel! What…?”

[He freezes when he sees the brand on your back]

[D] “You… branded her…”

[H, with a bitter laugh] “Hehe… I did. I did… You took EVERYTHING from me the night you raided our village, just because you couldn’t handle that your ‘mate’ ran from you in terror! You’ve murdered hundreds if not THOUSANDS of people, and any gods that exist have failed to hold you accountable and have failed their people! I am going to hold you accountable, I am going to make you feel the pain you’ve caused, and I will make you suffer for as long as I’m alive! And if you try to kill me… or I die through other means… you lose her.”

[...]

[Your Alpha holds you close, violently shaking, snarling quietly under his breath]

[H] “Your choice, Demon… Kill me, if you’d prefer blood over your mate. I’ll stand right here…”

[...]

[SFX: The Alpha growling]

[He holds you close and you can feel every bit of him tensed, shaking in immense rage]

[D] “...I promised you… When you fled, when I found you again, I promised you I would never hurt you, again… I know I scared you, but you gave me another chance, gave our family… a chance. As much as I want to tear out this welp’s INNARDS… I just want to have you home with me, again…”

[...]

[He rumbles as you weakly embrace him]

[D] “My poor Angel… I know you are tired. So sleepy, my sweet little sheep…”

[H] “...Then you’ll listen to me, wolf?”

[D, coldly] “I am going to make you regret this. Every moment in your life you’ve ever looked over your shoulder and wondered if eyes have watched to find you unaware, licked their lips in anticipation of eating you alive, you will know that you were right to fear.”

[...]

[H] “Tch… I’m not afraid of y-AUGH!”

[Your mate grabs the poor man by the throat and yanks him up so they’re at eye level. Demon stares him down, eyes radiating vitriol you haven’t seen in years]

[D] “...I do not need bravado. I do not need to flout who I am. You know who I am, and that is exactly why you’re struggling not to piss your pants while I hold you by your tiny fucking neck… You’re coming back to my domain, Hunter, and for every moment not spent with the love of my life and my children, I intend to spend it undoing your handiwork. Then… I am going to ruin you.”

[...]

[Your mate growls under his breath and relents, somewhat]

[D] “...Be a good boy and go to sleep.”

[He flexes his hand slightly and the Hunter goes limp]

[...]

[D, softly] “I have you, my love. We will fix this, I swear it. I will paint the forests red for you if I must.”

[He rumbles quietly as you rest a weak hand against his cheek]

[D] “Shh… Rest. I have you. I swear it…”

[SFX: Demon stomping through the remnants of the village and back into the forest]

[D, quietly] “I love you, my Moon. I will burn infinite kingdoms to the ground to prove it.”

[Pause]
