Synopsis: As a captain determined to retrieve your treasure, you’re lured in by a siren who offers you a deal.

Important Notes: Feel free to change or make additions to small aspects of this work such as the tags, pronouns, title, etc.! VA goes by SIREN and the listener is LISTENER. LISTENER responses are “...”. I really only put M4A or F4A because I want to have the pronouns of the speaker and listener different so it isn’t confusing. All of my scripts are really intended to be A4A.

EXT. Midnight on the beach.

The listener is making their way along the lapping water, following the sound of beautiful humming. They arrive at the lagoon where they see an elegant siren relaxing. She’s a bit caught off guard.

SIREN

Oh. Hello lovely, looking for something? Where's your crew, too afraid to travel with you? I admit you're either brave or naive showing up in the first place. In the darkness of night no less.

[...]

​

SIREN

(playing clueless)

Hmm? Whatever are you talking about?

(normal)

You're the pirate, you're the one who steals. How do you think the souls of the previous owners feel about you digging for their crap?

[...]

​

SIREN

Tch. These trinkets mean nothing to me. They are beautiful though, even more luminescent when they twinkle at the bottom of the lagoon like this. Think of this as a side hobby for me. And whoever dares to ruin this for me dies. After I've had my fun of course.

​

SIREN

Uhm- well I do a lot of stuff.

​

[...]

​

SIREN

Yeah, like, I make them… Alright. To be honest, you're the only one stupid enough to chase after me. Considering you're all alone, I don't think your crew will miss you.

SIREN

What? Why would you sacrifice yourself just because you're the captain? Wouldn't you be the most important? You- it means nothing to me anyway. So… what to do with you. I’ll think of something, hold on… maybe clean the beach? Or maybe…

​

The listener starts coming closer.

​

SIREN

Nuh-uh, stay where you are, lovely. Or do you want my singing to be the last thing you hear? It would be your honor to hear me in the first place. I'll put you in a trance and you'll walk into the water and never come back.

​

They ignore her threat and press on.

​

SIREN

I said stay where you are. Fine, go ahead and try to get your treasure. This pool of water may seem shallow but it's a lot deeper, there's no way you can carry gold coins to the surface. Huh?!

​

The listener dives in (sfx. Underwater sounds for a good while). When she sees they haven’t returned, she dives in as well, scooping them up and bringing them to the surface.

​

SIREN

What are you thinking?! You're a reckless maniac! Why are those stupid things so important to you anyway?!

​

[...]

​

SIREN

Oh… Well, I could never imagine being in that position, I take care of myself. No one to weigh me down… or rely on. You get more and more interesting, caring for your crew like that to go through all these lengths. You're still foolish though.

​

The two get back on land, sitting by one another.

​

[...]

​

SIREN

Tch. Don't mention it, but if you try to pull that stunt again I will let you drown. You humans are so fragile.

​

[...]

​

SIREN

What, did you want me to let you die?

​

[...]

​

SIREN

That's what I thought.

(sarcastic)

What's your plan now? Catch a cold?

​

[...]

​

SIREN

(soft genuine chuckle)

I wasn't being serious.

(normal)

How about, we make a trade?

(slow and flirtatious)

I'll dive down and get your treasure back… if you become mine. Do you understand what I mean, lovely?

[...]

​

SIREN

W-what? Really-

​

The listener scooches closer and makes the first move, giving a surprise kiss.

​

SIREN

I didn't think you'd- what is the matter with you? And a kiss? It's not going to be that easy. Besides, I know you're only doing this for your stuff. Once I give it to you, you'll leave.

[...]

​

SIREN

What?! Why would I even consider that? I'm perfectly fine staying where I am. What are you gonna do, keep me in a barrel?

​

[...]

​

SIREN

Creative, I admit. It seems dumb though. The whole point of a ship is to keep you from the water, a built-in pool would be contradicting. Also, why would I trust that your crew won't try to kill and sell me?

​

[...]

​

SIREN

I don't need your protection. My voice alone can take down every single one of you. Hmm, I wouldn't be able to sing anymore too. I'd have to give that up or else you'd be stupid enough and crash your own ship. You're cute, but I'm not giving up such a big part of me.

​

[...]

​

SIREN

You continue surprising me, captain. Why would you even risk it? It's not much of a choice to control my songs, they are all meant for malice.

​

[...]

​

SIREN

Enough already. You're persistent to a flaw, you know that? Just take your treasure. Stay here.

​

She dives into the water and scoops up the coins and jewelry, dumping them at the foot of the listener.

​

[...]

​

SIREN

You didn't promise anything. Look, it was my idea but I'm calling the deal off.

​

The listener pulls her in for another kiss. She gives in and they continue for a bit before pulling away.

​

SIREN

It's not going to work out. You're making this harder than it needs to be. Just take this to your crew, you don't want to show up empty-handed. What’s that look for-

​

They scoop her up princess style.

​

SIREN

(flabbergasted)

Huh?! Put me down! Oh, Gods, what do you think you're doing?

​

[...]

​

SIREN

(laughing)

You're not putting me in a barrel! I shouldn't have said that at all!

(normal)

What about the treasure?

​

[...]

​

SIREN

Don't pull that on me. You need that more than you need me.

​

[...]

​

SIREN

(teasing)

Oh. Finally. A smart and thought-out plan.

(normal)

It does make more sense to get your crew to lug all of that back. But… I'm not very excited to be around so many others.

​

[...]

​

SIREN

You're too sweet. And surprisingly warm, it makes me want to cling to you more.

​

They kiss once more.

​

SIREN

Uhm, you look like you're struggling. You know I can swim up to your ship from here, right?

​

[...]

​

SIREN

You never know when to quit, do you? Fine, if you insist.

(pause, then giggling)

Also, cutie, you’re too gullible.

​

She slowly hums a sweet tune.

​

SIREN

I was curious to see to what extent you’ll go for me. I could’ve just shown you this spell sooner. It’s not the first time for me, having legs. You don’t need to give me anything special on your ship, which was still sweet though.

​

​

SIREN

Is that so? You really don’t mind either way? I’ll hold you to that

(pause)

Still not letting go? Even if I can walk now?

(teasing)
