Context: You’ve been training as a Reaper for several years now, and you’re finally getting to go to the surface! Granted, it’s with a senior reaper, but this should still be fun!
Words: 1028
Monetization: It’s perfectly ok to monetize and record any of my scripts, you can change pronouns and stuff around too! Just please remember to credit me!
Notes: I’d rate this a high difficulty script, based on how much sfx work you want to do.
A/N: I found someone talking about a trick where writing in the Comic Sans font helps with inspiration and productivity. It’s working. I hate this.

[subway/city/crowded area ambience]
[wooshing sound]
“... Alright… the student I’m babysitting today should be waiting for me here…”
“Ugh, there are way too many students here. These are all freshmen… bright-eyed and bushy tailed. *chuckle*, let’s see how long they last.”
“Mine should be a junior… so the hem of their cloak should be black.”
“... But all I’m seeing here is blues for freshmen and yellows for sophomores…”
“... Well there go a few reds for seniors, but–”
[wooshing sound]
“Gah!”
“Oh, there you are. I was starting to worry that you forgot how to teleport.”
[pause]
“Yeah yeah, held up by some random seniors or whatever. All I care about is that you’re on time.”
“Let’s go somewhere less crowded so that I can tell you what to expect.”
[walking sounds]
[the sounds of the crowd slowly get quieter throughout this section]
“I don’t care how well you scored in classes or how well you remember what you’ve been taught. Being a Reaper is all about experience. And if you ask me, those good-for-nothings are making everything much harder by restricting these trips to the surface to Juniors and Seniors.”
“Break them in right at the start, I say. You wouldn’t believe how many newly dead souls try to join this academy only to drop out when they become Juniors because they can’t handle the intensity of it.”
[pause]
“Well to me, you’re just another soul looking to see the surface again. Do I blame you? No. I’m just like you.”
“But I’m telling you right now that I’m not very nice when it comes to my actual reaper work. We’re going to see some nasty stuff today, so you’d better be prepared.”
[he stops walking]
“Alright, here’s the list.”
[papers rustling]
“Yes, yes, don’t get excited. You already know about all this, so I don’t see why you’re so…”
[pause]
“... Never held a real one?”
“Ah, whatever. Now let’s get going. We have quite a few places to hit on this excursion.”
“And of course, you can opt out at any time if any death we witness is too much for you…”
[pause]
“Heh, you promise you won’t?”
“Alright then.”
“Let’s go. We’re starting off simple. Dinosaur, Colorado.”
[wooshing sound]
“Whoa, steady. I know that’s a longer distance than you’re used to teleporting.”
“In fact, I’m impressed that you made it here on the first try.”
[pause]
“Yeah yeah. Here’s a headpat. Good job.”
[he pats your head]
“... What? I can’t praise a student for something impressive?”
[pause]
“Fine, see if I ever do that again. Hmph.”
[pause]
"What? No, no one can see us. We're reapers, the most that alive people will notice are some ravens and crows. Did you pay attention when they went over that?"
[pause]
“Yeah, this is a diner. It’s a tiny town in Colorado. What did you expect?”
[pause]
“Why we’re here? Why don’t you read that list again?”
[pause]
“Yup. And that’s happening in about three, two, one…”
[loud clattering, crashing noise]
“... Yeeeaaah.”
[pause]
“Ah, there’s that expression. The expression that all new reapers make when they see someone choke to death on too large a bite.”
[pause]
“No, we can’t put him out of his misery. We have to let nature take its course. And you know, sometimes these lists are wrong.”
[pause]
“Well, someone might know what to do.”
[longer pause]
“... Which they clearly don’t, because that guy is still choking to death, but…”
[loud thump]
“Aaand there he goes.”
[short pause]
“Well, you know what to do, little raven.”
[pause]
“There we go, that’s it. One quick slice.”
“Well done. His soul is severed from his body, and now it’s in that crystal.”
“Good job for your first soul, I’d say.”
[pause]
“No, only lost souls with unfinished business roam around like that. We have an entire division of Grim Reapers dedicated to finding them and bringing them peace. Why do you think we always need more reapers?”
[pause]
“... You alright?”
[pause]
“Don’t lie to me. You’re shaking.”
[pause]
“... Wanna take a break? We can… take a walk through this flower park in Japan I’ve passed over.”
[pause]
“Look, I need you to tell me if you can’t handle it, okay? I know I sounded disdainful about reapers dropping out because of exactly this, but to tell you the truth it’s probably better for them in the long run. You witness some sh*t in this line of work, and pretty much every reaper needs therapy every now and then.”
[pause]
“Alright then. Let’s go.”
[wooshing noise]
“... Here we are.”
[pause]
“Nice place, right? The last time I was here, this place hadn’t even been built yet.”
“... It’s quite beautiful now.”
[walking]
“That’s it, deep breaths. Don’t worry, we’ll get back into it once you get your bearings back. The first soul is always the hardest.”
[pause]
“How long have I been in this line of work?”
“Man… It’s gotta be a few centuries now.”
[pause]
“Yeah, you could say that I’ve seen too much. I’ve seen horribly violent deaths, embarrassing deaths… Hey, I was even the one who reaped the soul of King Louie the 16th.”
[pause]
“Yup, that was me. But don’t remind me of that era. I was overworked to Tartaurus and back.”
[pause]
“Mhm. You’re getting to shadow someone who took the soul of a famous person. Isn’t that neat?”
“*chuckle* There it is, little raven. That smile’s come back to your face.”
[pause]
“Why ravens are an omen of death, of course! And we’re Reapers! Well– I am. You’re not licensed yet.”
[pause]
“... Well I’m glad you like the nickname.”
[pause]
“Feeling better?”
“Good, because we’ve got a long way to go.”
[paper rustling]
“We’ve got Modesto, California in around thirty minutes… Shibuya, Japan– oh that’s gonna be a messy one– and a few more…”
“And we’ll end the day at a hospital in London, England.”
“... I always end my shifts with a peaceful death.”
[pause]
“Well, it helps take the stress off. Helps you remember that… deep down, we’re still people. Dead people, but still people.”
[pause]
“... I think it’s a nice thought too.”
“But still, it’s our job to take other people to the afterlife in a nice little package, so they’ll go where they need to go.”
“Now come along. We’ve got work to do.”
