Help with pursuing an ASL Career to feed my family
Post Body

Hi, I live in Fresno, CA, and I was introduced to deaf culture through my wife. Both of her parents are deaf, and her first language was ASL before learning English. Basically, I would like to know if my idea for work is reasonable; that is, work as an ASL interpreter in Fresno with a wage that would place me in middle class yet allows recreational THC usage. I’ve got chronic pain in my back from a couple of surgeries I’ve had on the base of my spine, and weed helps me to sleep. Obviously I wouldn’t show up to work intoxicated. Is this possible/reasonable, and does anyone have any advice for me?

P.S. I mention my location since do to elderly family I don’t want to move away from Fresno. So my location is relevant to my question.

Thank you!
