Do you think Albert wants to die rather than live with the shame or to kill whoever is responsible for the truth coming out? There is evidence of both and I can’t decide what’s really motivating him. And it's a little confusing trying to understand his thought process. The idea that dying in a duel would wash away the shame from his family's name is just weird, his father will still be a murder and a traitor.
I liked that Albert was able to piece things together at the end, that the count had Haydee tell him the story but wouldn’t let him ask about his father. Do you think the count messed up and wanted Albert to fight Danglars? Or was it always his intention to orchestrate things to get Albert to come challenge him?
Place your bets now: will the count kill Albert in a duel?
Last line:
Danglars accompanied him to the door, where he again assured Albert that no motive of personal hatred had influenced him against the Count of Morcerf.
The next discussion will be up on Monday
