Discussion starters:
1.) So it seems like the whole story around Andrea/Benedetto is out now. Apparently they thought he was dead, and Villefort spent considerable efforts trying to track him down. What do you think?
2.) Near the end of this chapter, when Villefort vows to find out what "M. de Monte-Cristo" (he omitted his title) is up to, the narration tells us that "Villefort said these words with an accent that would have made the count shiver if he had heard them." Do you think that indicates that something has gone wrong in the Count's plan? If so, what do you think his mistake was?
3.) This situation is already quite the mess, and Bertuccio hasn't even been formally (re)introduced to Villefort. What do you think his role might be?
4.) Other points of discussion?
Final Line:
Madame Danglars returned in another cab to the passage, on the other side of which she found her carriage, and her coachman sleeping peacefully on his box while waiting for her.
The next discussion will be up this Saturday.
