Chapter 64 “The Beggar” Reading Discussion (Spoilers up to Chapter 64)
Post Body

Since spoiler markings aren't shown on mobile, please use the Spoilers Topic to discuss events from later in the book.

Discussion starters:

1.) I expected Caderousse, but not quite like this. From the little we got here, do you think he's changed? What could he be scheming?

2.) How do you think Caderousse and Benedetto might know each other, and do you think the Count knows about their relationship?

3.) Pretty much everything we knew about Benedetto came from Bertuccio's story. Have your thoughts on him developed in this chapter, with his irritated but nevertheless obliging attitide towards Caderousse? It's interesting to me that Caderousse should call himself his father considering Benedetto's father & surrogate father issues.

4.) Other points of discussion?

Final Line:

“Alas,” said Andrea, sighing, “one cannot be completely happy in this world!”
