1.) Why is Madame de Villefort so interested in poisons? Who does she want to kill (one supposed the Count must know)? What are your thoughts about her?
2.) We know from previous chapters that Madame de Villefort is too easy on Edouard. Was the Count encouraging his behavior when he kept using cute names for him and told his mother that she was too hard on him?
3.) Did you have any thoughts about the stories about poison and the Count's viewpoint represented here? I thought the Count seemed modern in recognizing that doctor's treatments were often deadly in themselves, or that dosage differentiates a poison from a cure.
