We still need one more person to help out with the reading discussions. If you’d like to help out as a mod, please send us a message.
Discussion starters:
1.) We get to see a new side of Edmond: his feeling of superiority compared to the rest of the crew. What is the reason for this feeling of superiority and what is your opinion of it?
2.) The moon shines on the piled rocks on the island. These rocks are compared to Mount Pelion. Why this comparison?
3.) Edmond tricks his shipmates into thinking that he broke his back to leave him alone. Were you scared for him or was it an obvious ploy to you? Did you like this ploy or would you have done it any other way?
Final Line:
‘And now!’ he shouted, recalling the story about the Arab fisherman that Faria had told him: ‘and now- open, Sesame!’
Next discussion will be up this Saturday.
