1) Piggybacking on a question from Chapter 29: from a psychological standpoint, it seems as though Dantès is re-enacting his own trauma (being the victim of cruel circumstances) on Morrel; is it right of him to play God when innocent people’s lives and happiness are in the balance?
2) Is Morrel’s intention to commit suicide honorable or selfish?
3) The Englishman’s financial rescue of Morrel coincides with the safe return of the Pharaon; Dantès seems to be the captain of the Pharaon in spirit, but how did the ship actually make it back to Marseille intact?
Final sentence of chapter:
”At this, he gave a sign and, as if it had been waiting just for this to set sail, the yacht headed out to sea.”
