Chapter 29 / XXIX - “Morrel and Company” reading discussion
Post Body
1) Though the Phararon’s prospects seem dim, Morrel clings to uncertainty as a source of hope. Does Dantès’ knowledge of his father’s death and Mercédès’ marriage suggest that he can have no hope of finding happiness?
2) Why does the Englishman give Morrel a three-month grace period on the debt he’s holding? Why not simply rip the debts up?
Final sentence of chapter:
”We must talk.”
