1) How did you react to Dantès killing the young goat? Does it seem justified as a tactic to gain the privacy he needs to search for the treasure? Or does it seem like a troubling sign that he’s willing to harm innocent life?
2) Why do you think Dantès is surprised to find “friendship and devotion” among the smugglers?
